My experience at Folsom PT has been extraordinary. Everyone I have interacted with has been very professional and clearly concerned for my well being. After recovering from hip replacement surgery I was experiencing sciatica and constant lower back pain and no solutions offered by my primary care physician or the physical therapy clinic associated with his office were effective. At the start of UCD’s collaboration with FPT, UCD had recently recruited Scott M. Fishman, MD as their new pain medicine chief. Dr. Fishman has a unique pedigree of qualifications for his position as Chief of Pain Medicine as he is board certified in three specialties: anesthesia, psychiatry, and internal medicine. As he arrived in Sacramento he was quickly becoming recognized as a national authority on the subject of pain medicine, being featured in Time Magazine’s special issue on chronic pain as well as being featured in a weeklong segment for Good Morning America.

Upon leaving the East Coast and coming to UCD in Sacramento, a respected Boston area physical therapist who had received training from FPT’s continuing education program told Dr. Fishman about FPT. Initially, in 2001, Dr. Fishman asked FPT partners Tim McGonigle, PT and Michael Moore, PT to give yearly lectures to the Pain Fellows going through UCD’s one year Pain Fellowship Program for medical doctors who had already completed their residencies in either anesthesiology, neurology, psychiatry, or physical rehabilitation medicine. As FPT’s relationship to the UCD Pain Division grew, the collaboration began to include Tim and Michael speaking at pain medicine conferences sponsored by UCD Pain Medicine. Eventually this relationship included an official appointment to UCD for Tim and Michael as Volunteer Clinical Guest Faculty in the Division of Pain Medicine.

I have had my share of Physical Therapy clinics, being one with a lombar 3 level fusion many yrs ago and a cervical fusion, not to mention a total knee replacement! Folsom Physical Therapy has been the ONLY PT clinic where I’ve seen a HUGE improvement in my pain level. They do a complete assessment of your issue and address it with their expertise. Other places will do ‘ultra sound’ heat pads, ice packs etc.. Not Folsom! They get you on their equipment, instruct you on how to use it effectively so you can ‘build up’ around the injured area while protecting it. It’s a place like no other in this entire area. Most of the medical community is familiar with them and have a great amount of respect for their success. It’s a place I have recommended to so many of my friends. But it’s also a place, you just have to go there as a patient and see it for yourself!
