General Info

The first Meijer grocery store was opened in Greeneville, Mich., in 1934 with $338.76 worth of merchandise. After opening several local grocery stores over the next 30 years, the company underwent a transformation in 1962 when it opened its first Meijer Thrifty Acres location, a food and general merchandise store, which many consider the birth of the one-stop shopping center. Meijer s stores have since grown into superstores, which feature more than 40 departments, such as electronics, outdoor living, toys, home and workshop. With its headquarters in Grand Rapids, Mich., the company has more than 150 stores throughout the Midwest, including one in Findlay, Ohio. Each store is open 24 hours a day, 364 days a year, closing only for Christmas. Each store also features a pharmacy and a film-processing center.

  • Nice alternative to Wallie

I love shopping at this Meijer. The variety of produce is huge and kept fresh. If you get the Sunday paper and cut out coupons, often the Meijer ad sales coincide, offering you more savings. You just can't beat the great grocery selection. You can find almost anything you want here. Unlike the previous reviewer, I have never had any problems using my coupons About the only thing I don't like is the loudness of the self checkout lanes. They should turn down the volume.

  • Worst store ever!

Be careful trying to shop here with coupons, if you try and save money they will accuse you of scamming their store. When using coupons clipped from the Sunday paper and the cats that are printed off of THEIR store machines I was accused of scamming them, the exact phase was ?you are scamming the store with these coupons? it was said loudly and in front of MANY other customers. When I informed her I?d be calling the manger when I got home she sneered at me, completely unafraid of any actions that might be taken by her superiors. Does Meijer?s routinely let their employees treat their customers this way? When I called about the poor treatment I got an employee who was totally uninterested in listening to me. It was little better than a ?shrug? I think this store is the worst. I?d rather spend more money somewhere else than be treated like a career criminal simply for trying to save a few bucks with legitimate coupons.
