Preventive Care

Dental Care
We offer a complete line of home dental care products to help you keep your cat's teeth healthy. Our trained staff are happy to demonstrate the use these products.
Vaccination
For the safety of all animals in our care, we require that all vaccinations be up to date. Even though we make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits, they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. This is one of the reasons we ask you to contain your pet. We recommend that animals be placed on a leash or in pet carriers before entering the waiting room.
Behavioral Counseling
You should be aware that we set aside extra time for behavior consultations due to their complex nature and often these appointments are continued in multiple follow-up visits via E-mail or phone calls. We consider it our duty to give ourselves 100% to helping you to find humane, and solid solutions to these sometimes very challenging problems.
Nutritional Counseling
We also offer a variety of prescription diets formulated to meet dietary needs of cats with medical issues such as diabetes, urinary tract disease, food allergies, kidney problems, and help with weight management.
Comprehensive Examination
Our approach to feline behavior problems begins with taking a complete behavior history, completing a comprehensive examination of your cat, and doing appropriate diagnostic testing.

If your cat is past due for any of the above items, please discuss this with our staff. Your cat will need to be examined and these items updated at your expense. If your cat has had allergic reactions to vaccines or other medications, or has a medical condition that precludes these requirements, we will need to discuss and make exception arrangements.

Infection Treatment

Parvovirus Infection Treatment
This 3 in 1 vaccination is essential protection for all cats. Distemper virus (Panleukopenia Virus, Parvovirus) attacks the gastrointestinal tract and bone marrow and is often fatal. The respiratory viruses cause less severe illnesses, but a high incidence of infection justifies immunization. All of these viruses are highly contagious and are easily spread by direct contact and indirect exposure (sneezing, infected saliva, urine or feces on your hands, clothing, etc). The FVRCP vaccination provides excellent protection against distemper virus. FVRCP vaccination only partially immunizes against respiratory viruses and serves to reduce the severity of illness in exposed cats.
Feline Retro Virus Treatment
All cats should be tested for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV, Feline Aids Virus).

While your cat is under anesthesia, he or she will be monitored by one or more of our highly-trained and qualified veterinary nurses at all times. To aid us in the anesthesia monitoring process we use a number of highly sophisticated vital-sign monitors such as pulse oximeters, EKG’s, blood pressure, respiratory, body temperature, and end-tidal CO2 monitors. The machines are used in-conjunction with the nurse’s skilled monitoring, but not as a replacement for an experienced and highly qualified “live” person whose sole job is monitoring anesthesia and protect your cat.

Veterinary Surgery
We are dedicated to providing loving medical and surgical care for companion cats. We put the health and comfort of our feline patients first, by providing the highest level of veterinary care and by treating our feline patients gently and compassionately.
Declawing
We perform many general surgeries but commonly consult and refer complicated cases to local ACVS Board-Certified Surgical Specialists. We do not recommend or perform declawing procedures as a treatment for any behavioral issue.
Spaying and Neutering
Neuter male cats at 4-5 months of age. Neutering at 4-5 months will reduce the likelihood of undesirable hormonal behavior such as spraying, fighting and wandering from home. Additionally, neutering may prolong your cat’s life by decreasing cat fights that spread disease.

Laboratory Services
Our Senior Testing includes a complete blood count, a blood chemistry profile, a blood pressure reading, complete urinalysis and in-hospital urine culture (to check for bacterial infection), thyroid hormone level, and retrovirus (FeLV/FIV) testing.
X-Ray
Dental Radiology
If dental calculus and gingivitis develop, we'll recommend in-hospital dental cleaning. Because anesthesia is required for dental work, pre-anesthesia blood and urine testing are needed prior to dentistry. We perform ultrasonic dental scaling and a high-speed polishing of your cat's teeth. We then carefully examine and record any areas of concern and take digital dental x-rays as needed to further evaluate the teeth. Sometimes diseased teeth will require further treatment and we have all the needed equipment and training to provide the best care available.
