$379 for front brake pads and turning rotors. I laughed out loud. The dealer charges $200 less than that! Good luck - I guess you think women are still suckers. Not this one.

What good does it do to respond to negative feedback on social media? I can tell by your responses that it bothers you greatly, otherwise you would respond to the positive feedback as well. This is unhealthy for your business and shows that you have an issue with handling criticism. I am looking for a repair shop to do some A/C work on my car. After reading your responses my business will be done elsewhere! Word of advice... Keep the problem solving on a face to face basis. Social media is not the place to resolve matters, unless you main objective is "being right!"

Overall

Richard Mayes Auto Service is by far the best service place I have ever been to.

My car's engine was destroyed due to oil leaking. It died the moment I turned into their parking lot and it was beyond rep[air. Richard Mayes and a tech crawled under the car once the tow-truck got there and lifted the car and they noticed that the cup was loose. The people that I had taken it for an oil change did not tighten it well enough after the change. Richard Mayes called himself the owner of the other service business to let him know what they had found and that they had three witnesses to testify that the cup was loose. The manager agreed to take a look at my car and then to replace the engine free of cost.

They did not charge me anything for their inspection and they were beyond helpful and caring about the problem. In no other place had I ever had such an amazing treatment. From now on I am not taking my car to any other service business, no matter the cost.

I love this place! Even though...

I love this place! Even though I don't own a car, only a moped, I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Last December, I had just gotten my moped back from a repair shop in town that specializes in scooters and was supremely disappointed. My back tire went flat a week after getting it replaced (because of them aligning it improperly with the wheel), and I needed someone to air it up again. Not having a way of getting it anywhere else, I walked it down to Richard Mayes to ask if there was anything they could do, even though they don't work with mopeds. They told me that they would do what they could and call me if they couldn't fix it. I walked by the place first thing the next morning, and it was siting outside already, the tire aired up and perfect. I went inside to collect my keys and pay, but they said to consider it a Christmas present and just handed me my keys.

The service was beyond friendly, helpful, and exceptional. They could have easily turned me away or charged me a lot of money for the specialty service, but instead, they helped me and my wallet out so much. I tell all of my friends about Richard Mayes Auto Service.

It is OK

The price is higher than Grease Pig and Maple Auto, and the service is fine. They have long history and it is family owned. So I can give 4 stars. The one you can trust but not great.

Thank-you for your response! I'm not aware of what we did as far as repairs or services to your vehicle, but I can honestly tell you that we recently beat one of your listed shop's estimates by over $100.00 before our client produced the prior estimate sheet. Regardless of whether we have knowledge of prior estimates from other competitors, being family owned and operated sure is awesome because WE set the final invoice price, and will happily work with each client on an individual basis! Please give us the opportunity to demonstrate this ability to you, as I'm sure we will earn another star. Thank-you again for publishing your experience with us, it helps us improve and grow our fine reputation throughout the community!

Richard Mayes Auto

I just took my car to Richard Mayes Auto where they did some work to it. I am from out of town and needed a place to get my car back on the road. They did such an excellent job on it. It runs like new again even though its not. The owner and the employees were as friendly as could be. I would recommend this place to every one. They had very resonable prices too. Thank you for getting me going again.

I took my car to richards auto last month and the mechanics were as nice as could be. But they werent the problem. The front staff treated their employes like crap, like they didnt matter. The secratary (Tracie) didnt know what she was doing and ordered the mechanics around like they were dogs. The owner (Chuck Mayes) thinks hes the only one that matters and hes the only one that runs the shop. From my experience with other shops was the owner ran the shop but, the machanics makes the shop. The machanics are the one that makes the money so the owner can have money in his pocket. Chuck and Tracie are married and they work together not a very good combination if you ask me. The machanics just did as they were told so they could have a paycheck every week. Before Richard pasted away this shop was the cheapest shop around. Now it is a rip off on prices. Oil change at wal-mart is 30 dollars and thats checking everything out. Oil change here is 50 bucks and thats just oil and filter. My sister took her car there all the time to get her oil changed and she told me about this place. She dont take it there no more cause she had a belt that was coming off and they didnt even bring it to her attention. I now one of the machanics there and he told me that they are not allowed to this because it takes to much times (Chuck Mayes rules). So i recommened not taking your vehicle to this place. This is why it is good to know the machanics cause they will work on your car on the side.

Chuck and I are very sorry that you had a negative experience with us! If I seemed to not know what I was doing, chances are I really didn't! I'm actually new at the shop by only a couple of months. It's like I'm learning a new language. I have worked with the public since I was 9 but never around cars, and I'm not a mechanic. I have extensive knowledge in business and running an office, but I'm learning car parts, pieces, and the when and where of repairs- so-ooo much to learn! I'm learning really fast, but I know I'm still making mistakes here and there- a little patience would have been very nice of you, as well as some communication and learning of factual truths before a public display of assumptions. We have been in business since 1947, so if I don't know the solution or answer I can quickly find someone around here who definitely does know! I must say I had absolutely no idea I had upset someone this badly and if I had been given the chance, I would have explained myself and made it right. I'm quite stunned because I'm 99% always aware if someone has a problem with me. Again, I personally apologize. As far as our mechanics go, we treat our mechanics with respect and provide them with non-commission pay, time off when they need it, paid holidays and vacations, and a nice bonus at Christmas. Of course our mechanics get a paycheck, but if you have ever owned a business you should know that the owner is the last one to get paid AFTER the employees and AFTER the bills. As far as Chuck and I being married and working together, we have never been closer. Richard Mayes Auto Service, Inc. is now a 100% family-run business, a team with more to gain than just a paycheck, and that is a wonderful idea for a business. Richard would be very proud! Wal-mart gets massive bulk discounts. You cannot begin to compare us with Wal-Mart, that would be unfair as we are not a multi-billion dollar company with thousands of stores world-wide. They also have at least 3 different levels of oil changes with some pricings well above $30.00, depending on the vehicle. We do offer the option of an "Oil Change Plus" which is your oil, filter, and a thorough check of your vehicle's fluid levels, belts, hoses, tire pressure, brakes, etc. We charge 1/2 hr. labor of $37.50 over the price of the filter and oil which truthfully averages about $38.00, again depending on the vehicle. We keep track of it in our database and remind our client when it is time to check. It's another way to simplify the maintenance on a vehicle for our client. A service we provide for a minimal fee- I have never heard anyone complain, but thank me for taking care of them. If the overall repairs (more than just an oil change) are substantial or overwhelming, Chuck will waive the $37.50. Just one of the many beauties of owning our own business- we can set (or lower) our prices at any given time, unlike a huge chain. Yes, Chuck rules. This business is always for sale for the right price, so anyone can buy it and then they can rule the shop as owner and work and worry 10hrs+ a day about all the taxes and bills a business brings! Hopefully, if the "after work, when/if I can" mechanic messes someone's car up, he can guarantee his work and parts, if he can find the time around his real job to fix the problem in a timely manner! Honestly, our reply was not intended to offend or irritate you further, but to publicly apologize to you, and hopefully attempt a change in your heart concerning us! Thank-you very much for your review, we really appreciated this opportunity for reconciliation!

I was traveling through town from out of state visiting relatives in the Fayetteville area. On the way into town, our vehicle developed a problem which I was confident would be expensive to fix. My BIL suggested Mayes Auto Service and told me they were honest and professional. I brought the vehicle to Mayes and discovered to my delight that my BIL was correct. Mayes did a great job fixing the problem. They determined that the issue was caused by a malfunctioning (inexpensive) part which they replaced immediately. The bill for the repair was surprisingly low. They could have gouged me easily for this repair (due to my being stranded in town and my expectations of a high cost problem) but they did not. These people truly are honest and professional. If I lived in Fayetteville they would certainly get my business regularly.
