The Grey Cottage Pet Spa

I had my 2 cats groomed three times by Cristin. I selected her as a groomer after much research as she is a certified feline master groomer. I have a long haired cat that requires hygiene trims so I wanted someone who knows how to handle cats. Unfortunately, I had several issues with appointment scheduling. On our first visit she wasn't even home at the scheduled appointment time, but her husband assured me she was "on her way". I waited with my kitties in my car for 10 minutes until she showed up. Second and third visits were better, she was home when I arrived. But, she was in the middle of grooming other pets on both occasions, my kitties waited in their carriers until she could get to them and I was contacted on my cell phone when they were ready. My husband and I are both healthcare professionals with extremely busy schedules fully aware of how often there just aren't enough hours in a day, so I was willing to overlook the obvious scheduling issues/overbooking that was occurring. However, on my most recent visit when I attempted to drop off my kitties at the scheduled time, Cristin was inside "grabbing something to eat" I was told by her husband to my surprise as he was in the process of grooming a dog. The website does not mention any additional groomers at the Grey Cottage Pet Spa (I will give them the benefit of the doubt that her husband is properly trained in grooming cats/dogs). I was then told by Cristin that she did not have me on the schedule (despite my calling and leaving a voicemail regarding the appointment 4 days earlier, in addition to receiving a text message from her assistant Ashley confirming the appointment one month prior- I still have the text message on my phone). I was told I could leave my cats there for 3 hours and she would "get to them". I politely declined and was asked to come back in 1.5 hours. I ultimately will not be returning. I am a forgiving person (mistakes happen), but this is too much for me to overlook.

Cristin's love for animals shines through her work! She has done such a great job with both our dog Jack and cat Selena! Definitely worth the drive from Gates to make sure our fur babies are treated so well.

The Grey Cottage is absolutely wonderful. Cristin has an incredible way with animals. We have a standard poodle who was abused and she was so patient and sweet with him- he now LOVES going to see her. She truly loves dogs and her grooming is excellent- she always does whatever we ask and our dog looks and smells great after a visit to her (no matter how gross he has been going in...). We also owe Cristin greatly for discovering a tumor on the dog's leg - it was on the upper inside part of his back leg and although he ended up losing his leg, he kept his life and still runs around and jumps up like crazy. We are so lucky to have found the best groomer in the Rochester area- we don't know what we'd do without her because no one else we've ever met even comes close to the natural way she has with dogs. We once had our other dog taken to a chain groomer and they were really rough with him- he was traumatized and is now afraid of anything related to grooming (even the brush!).
