Fillings
Amalgam fillings, also known as mercury fillings, should never be removed without adequate testing and safety precautions.Â Amalgam fillings are approximately 50% mercury. Mercury, in all forms, is a deadly poison.Â Patients are becoming more aware of this poison in their mouth and are asking their dentists to remove these fillings. In many cases, the patient and the dentist are not aware of the potential dangers in the removal of mercury fillings. Removing even one filling from people who are already ill, or near their toxic threshold, can make the individual sick unless the practitioner takes proper steps before, during, and after mercury amalgam removal.

I am not fond of conventional bridges unless the supporting teeth are so broken down that there is no other way to restore them except with a crown.

Root Canal Treatment
There are many reasons for an extraction. Some of the reasons for an extraction include advanced gum disease; an abscessed tooth that cannot be saved, a tooth with decay too deep to save, a tooth that has broken at the gum line and cannot be saved, an impacted tooth (as in an impacted “Wisdom Tooth”). Some orthodontic cases require that one or more teeth be extracted. A patient may also choose to have a tooth extracted in an effort to avoid a root canal, or to eliminate a root-canaled tooth that may have become infected. Whatever the reason may be for an extraction, it is important that every effort be made to properly clean the extraction socket of the tooth and bone in order to insure proper healing and to prevent the formation of a cavitation. We use EAV (electrodermal) testing to verify that the debridement is complete. Whenever possible, it is best to do an extraction when the body has been detoxified and the person’s constitution has been strengthened. this will help ensure that proper healing will occur. Periodontal Surgery
While the presence of bacteria does play a role, the essential element in whether a person will develop gum disease may actually have much more to do with their general health. We all have bacteria, not only in our mouths, but throughout our bodies. One reason some people develop problems, while others do not, is because the host’s resistance is low, providing a prime environment for bacteria to multiply. There are people who do not floss or brush regularly and they have no problems. On the other hand, there are people who are religious about their oral hygiene and yet over time gum disease will continue to progress and deteriorate the bone. Many patients come to us after they have undergone periodontal surgery, spent thousands of dollars, had their teeth cleaned every three months and still have not arrested the disease. If we find a generalized periodontal problem, we think more in terms of a systemic problem like mercury toxicity, nutrition and overall body chemistry. If the problem is just in certain localized areas, it is more likely linked to a number of factors related to the tooth including interference on its energetic meridian relating to a specific organ, a defective restoration or crown margin, a very high electrical current, or a bite problem. Proper bite and alignment of the teeth impacts heavily on the health of the gums. Excessive or improper pressure on the teeth, caused by bite problems, can literally create an environment around the tooth that predisposes it to a bacterial invasion and problems. Many dentists do not have the specialized training to effectively perform this process of bite adjustments. Dr. Breiner learned to do proper bite adjustments at the world-renowned Pankey Institute. If you are going to have such work done, you should seek out a dentist who has taken post graduate courses in this technique. Other natural therapies to correct periodontal disease include Vitamin C and Co-Enzyme Q-10 which have shown to be very helpful. We also have our patients rinse and irrigate with Tooth & Gum mouth wash â€“ a natural antiseptic. Recently, we had a patient with a severe periodontal infection that was non-responsive to antibiotic treatment and other natural interventions. We decided to experiment with an alternative approach using Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy right here at the Breiner Whole-Body Health Center. Dentures
Partial dentures, however, have the problem of food collecting under the denture; also, you cannot exert a lot of â€œbitingâ€ pressure on the denture. Partial dentures tend to have some movement, which some people find annoying.

The advantage of anÂ i mplant Â is that it functions like a real tooth and you can exert full biting pressure. Â Another implant advantage is that you do not have to do anything with the tooth on either side of the missing space. Implants are the best option if you do not have a tooth on one side of the missing tooth on which to anchor a bridge.

Like many holistic modalities, the use of Biomagnetic Pair Therapy (BPT) is often a case of “peeling back the layers” (like peeling an onion), and successive BPT sessions can undercover and treat pathogens that now emerge. Some sessions are short and targeted, while others require longer or multiple visits. An example of a short-targeted session would be the use of magnets to help facilitate healing and alleviation of pain after tooth extraction. An example of a lengthier session or multiple visits would be treating Lyme Disease and its’ co-infections. At times a patient may be given instructions on the placement of a particular pair of magnets for use at home.

Braces
TMD generally requires bite adjustments (reshaping of the tooth surfaces) and, sometimes, braces to correct the misalignment of the jaws. Because TMD causes so much trauma to the whole system, particularly to the skeletal structure and the muscles, we often recommend both a homeopathic remedy and some bodywork to hasten the healing process during or after the bite adjustment process.
