The grooming shop is actually located in a separate building at 10102 Mitchell Hill Rd. Absolutely the best groomer in the Greater Louisville area. This is a groomer who actually CARES about the dogs and cats she grooms. She treats them like her own pets.

Digital Radiology units, one for use on the farm one for use in the hospital. Digital radiology is used to view images of bone, joints and occasionally soft tissue. The ability to see current and previous bone and joint injuries makes it an invaluable tool in both lameness evaluations and pre-purchase exams. Digital radiographs provide a much higher degree of detail and clarity than traditional x-rays. The images are processed instantaneously and can be viewed and manipulated by our doctors stall-side. This allows our doctors to reach an immediate diagnosis, so we can get your equine friend on the road to recovery.

Fortunately for us, we offer a prevention (or preventative choices) for fleas and ticks. These medications need to be given every month for the best results. We also recommend giving them all year round because fleas and ticks can cause problems no matter what time of year it is.
Pain Management
Magna Wave Therapy has been a great addition to our integrative services. Magna Wave is a form of pulsed electromagnetic therapy. In simple terms a strong Magnet with electricity added. Our practice uses this instrument for pain relief primarily. Magna Wave is similar to a TENS unit in the sensation felt to the skin, however, a TENS unit only helps with superficial pain and the Magna Wave can penetrate up to 40 cm deep! The pulsed electromagnetic waves cause nerve confusion, decreasing the pain signals and allowing muscle relaxation. We have found that the muscle relaxation has lasted for several weeks. Our horse owners especially like this therapy as it is not a drug, so their athletes get pain relief without medication.

Arthritis Treatment
IRAP is a product used to treat osteoarthritis in horses (arthritis). IRAP is different from other products because it treats the cause of joint disease and it’s action is aimed at restoring joint lining and cartilage function. Studies performed in Colorado State University show that treated horses demonstrate reduced lameness, improved joint histology (cellular make up) and a tendency towards cartilage preservation. Our clinic has seen resolution of lameness, a general improvement in the range of motion of the joint and a decrease in joint effusion in treated horses.
Periodontal Disease Treatment
For some of us (including Dr. Robertson), it is nearly impossible to adequately brush our pets teeth twice a day as needed to prevent periodontal disease. The good news is that with yearly teeth cleaning and intermittent brushing we can keep their teeth in great shape and help prevent periodontal disease!
