When it comes to orthodontic treatment, dental insurance works a little differently than it does for checkups, cleanings, dental crowns, and other likeminded services. While every plan differs, most will have some sort of lifetime maximum benefit allotted for each insured individual regarding orthodontics. This benefit is then paid out as a percentage of your overall orthodontic fee for related services (such as the diagnostic records, the treatment itself, etc) until the maximum amount is reached.

It was the first run of the party, and he was laying down on a runner sled and ended up colliding with a person who, to this day, is still his oldest and closest friend. His father packed the tooth into a snowball and brought him straight to the dentist’s office on a Sunday. His dentist re-implanted the tooth, and it lasted another 15 years before being replaced by a bridge and then an implant. Orthognathic surgery is another name for corrective jaw surgery, and it is utilized only in cases where a severe bite misalignment (such as a pronounced overbite or under bite) can’t be corrected with normal orthodontic treatment alone. This may involve lengthening or shortening one of the jaws and securing it in place using surgical-grade metal screws (which can later be removed). These types of procedures are performed using a team approach of an orthodontist and an oral surgeon. How you should handle loose teeth: Avoid playing or overusing your loose teeth as it could make your situation worse. You can make an appointment with our team if you’re concerned about the loose feeling in your teeth. During your visit, we’ll take X-rays to monitor the health of your jawbone and determine if you need treatment like gum disease therapy or bone grafting. In the meantime, be sure to practice good oral hygiene to ward off harmful bacteria that could be weakening the tissue.
