Oral Cancer Screening
Oral cancer affects thousands of Americans yearly. We use the latest technology to detect changes in oral tissue consistencies and/or lesions. A specialized light is shined into the mouth to detect unhealthy tissue. Healthy tissue looks lighter under the light while spots of bad tissue appear dark. With early detection, cancer may be caught before it has time to spread, potentially saving lives.

While everyone’s visit is different, your first scheduled visit will usually include a teeth cleaning, dental examination, and digital X-rays. Our clinical staff will also take the time to get to know you and your concerns so we can discuss the long-term treatment plan that’s appropriate for you. Whether you’re interested in safely whitening your existing teeth, implant options to restore your smile, or would like to consider sedation options to ease your nerves, we can discuss all of your options. Call our office right away and take these steps. 1) Do not touch the tooth root, but hold the tooth by the crown and gently rinse the tooth with water. 2) Place the tooth back into the socket as quickly as possible and bite down on clean gauze to hold it in place. 3) If the tooth cannot be placed in the socket, put the tooth in a small container of milk or saliva and bring it with you to your appointment.

As their name suggests, dental implants are long-term replacement teeth that are surgically inserted and secured into a patient’s missing tooth location. The bone then fuses around the implant stem, rendering the implant permanent. As a result, dental implants are much more like your original teeth than dentures or bridges.

Bone Grafting
As you can imagine, dental implant procedures vary depending on the type of implant you need and whether additional procedures such as bone-grafting are involved. Implants are typically placed in one appointment while you are comfortably sedated. Following the placement surgery there are several appointments where Dr. Nagy monitors your healing. When healing is complete, typically three to six months later, we restore the implant and replace the missing tooth. Depending on your condition, a treatment crown may be placed at time of implant to replace the tooth immediately while healing occurs.
