Overall

I had a good experience with Lawson's Auto Repair. Winter at the desk is unbelievably nice and courteous on the phone. They towed and diagnosed my van at a reasonable price. It is unfortunate that I could not have it fixed here, I did not have the money to get it done. I believe they would have provided me with great repair services but I could not take advantage of that. I'd recommend using this shop again. I don't know why all the harsh reviews here. Thanks for reading.

Overall

The fat owner is very rude and obnoxious. While I was waiting I heard him talking smack about a customer to the receptionist. They attempted to overcharge me by $200 to fix brakes and were going to charge me $25 to fix a $2 bulb. Avoid this scam artist at all costs. Even their oil changes are ridiculously overpriced.

Horrible service!!! Don't know how these people are still in business. They are rude to me every time i go in there shop, some how the problem i'm having with my car is always my fault, and when i get the car back after they have "fixed" the problem it has more problems then when i brought it in. These people are only out to steal your money, and will do it in any way they can. DO NOT go to this shop, if you do you WILL be disappointed, and have no money left, to bring it to another shop, so you can get the things they broke, while "fixing" your car or truck, fixed...

Overall
Very rude and incompetent

I lived near this shop for 3 years and every time I've ever had to talk to this fat idiot, he was rude and arrogant. One of my friends took his jeep in to figure out why his sunroof was leaking an Lawson wiped around the seal and then tried to charge him 70 bucks for it. He always is out to make money in any way he can. And the only way he can is to rip off other people. He tried to charge me 80 bucks to replace my rear brakes and rotors after he told me I have no idea what I'm doing. I had all the parts for it just didn't have a tool to twist my stupid German brake pistons back in. I told him no thanks and too it to Jrs in Shenandoah. He put them on for half the price and was nice and helpful. I would never even send my enemy to Lawson. He is the worst mechanic I've ever dealt with. And it's not just on one occasion. Every single time I've ever spoken to him, it has been unpleasant.

BAD service

I have been to a lot of different shops, this one is by far the worst. They WILL try to get as much money out of you as possible. By doing an oil change that you might not need or air filter and throttle body cleaning like they did to me, and i just happen to know, before i brought my car there that none of those things needed to be done, but i looked past it, and thought maybe there just trying to be nice. well turns out they where just trying to sucker me out of money. Not only that but the problem i went in there with, was not fixed and i now have another problem on top of the one they said they fixed. but there trying to tell me they had nothing to do with it. On top of that they are rude and not willing to admit when they make a mistake. Needless to say i will never go there again, and i DO NOT recommend that anyone else go there.

Overall
Dissapointing...

Have taken several of our vehicles there and always been happy and recomended Lawsons...until I took a camper we had just gotten there for inspection. I won't take another vehicle there again. I called ahead and they said to come over with it. When I arrived, I was told they couldn't inspect it without a break assist box installed. I said no problem, I have one right here in my toolbox, I just need help plugging it in, I know my truck already has the set up I just dont know where under the dash the plug is. The mechanic wouldn't even look, he started trying to get me to order a new break assist box, said the one I have might not work, might not be compatable, and I could leave my truck and camper overnight and they could get it done. I told him a mechanic at the Toyota dealership gave me the break assist box, and said it would work on my Toyota Tacoma TRD. He then started saying that the wiring harness on my truck may need to all be replaced and they may have to order all the wiring and all of this while he hasnt looked at my truck at all and im holding the break assist box in my hand that already has the correct tip on it to basically plug and play in my truck which as I said, came pre installed as the towing package on a TRD. I left frustrated and went to the auto store and flipped through my manual and google and returned to Lawsons to show the guy proof that my truck came with the plug already on the wiring harness and that it was a bundle of wires under my dash with tip already on it, accessible without taking the dash apart, but tucked under there waiting if he could just reach under and pull it down, we could attach the break assist and do the inspection. He took a 5 sec look (didnt bother to ask the guy in the bay who does their wiring) and told me I should take it to a Toyota dealership. I left feeling like they just really didnt want to do the inspection and saw a woman and wanted to sell her parts she already had. I have bought cars and never felt like someone was trying to rip me off that much. I went back home, over the weekend my husband looked under the dash and found the wire bundle, plugged in the break assist, which fit just fine and worked as well. I took off work a second time and towed the camper to Big L in Elkton instead.

very disappointed

I spent a lot of money to fix up an antique car that has a leaking transmission, needs wheel bearings, the mechanic scratched the dash up and he said he would pay to have it repa
