Blooming Garden Inn

We needed a central location between Virginia and South Carolina to celebrate 2016 New Years with some old friends. They had the downstairs room and we stayed in the upstairs Moroccan room. Blooming Garden was lovely in every way - Frank made us feel at home. Breakfast was delicious and included fresh squeezed juice, and fresh fruit. We spent one night at the Blooming Garden Inn on the recommendation of a relative who lives in the Raleigh-Durham area because it was convenient to Duke Memorial United Methodist Church, at which we were to attend a memorial service. The owners, Frank and Dolly, almost made us forget the sad occasion that brought us to Durham. Their company and conversation was delightful--as were the home-made goodies at breakfast Saturday morning. And the careful restoration they have done on this remarkable home is awesome. I could have wandered around all day looking at the work and listening to Frank describe the details of their 2-3 year project.

Immaculate Victorian grounds and home. Hosts are sweethearts and tend to every need of the guests. Downtown location very convenient to all that Durham offers. Front porch is perfect. Every inch of the home is decorated from hosts' antiquing trips and life moments.

Owners, Frank and Dolly, offer so much more than other B&B's. It's a lovely place to stay for a get-a-way of any sorts. The perfect place for my solo 2-night business trip to Durham. Delicious food, wonderful conversation, and comfortable beds. Highly recommend for Durham guests or residents.

I stayed at the Inn with my friend for a conference. Frank (the host) was extremely flexible with our packed schedule and made sure we had a nice breakfast every morning before going to the conference! He even took us on a tour of the city on the first day, and of Duke Garden on the last day. He was also kind enough to give me a ride to the airport. We also had interesting conversations about the houses they restored (the Inn and the house across the street). This conveniently located B&B is a gem of the town.

Staying with Frank and Dolly is like being home. We were here for a conference. They provided nutritious breakfast and even offered us tours to the Duke campus and the Duke Garden. They also shared amazing stories of their historical home and their life journey. It has got great location, closer to downtown. I recommended anyone coming to Durham to stay here!

I just spent three nights at the Blooming Garden Inn and found it a wonderful oasis that swept me up in its charms and character. A restored Queen Anne home built near the end of the 19th century, the Blooming Garden Inn features a number of small, charismatic rooms on the first floor, as well as a few relatively spacious bedrooms, with more bedrooms upstairs. Frank and Dolly are the owners and caretakers, and take care of me they did. Arriving into the Raleigh/Durham airport at 12:30am, Dolly stayed up until 1:30am to greet me upon arrival (including with warm chocolate chip cookies!). Frank takes responsibility for providing a terrific breakfast, and can help you to identify any sights or activities in the area in which you may be interested, as well as knowing the local restaurant scene well. They also proved their flexibility by accommodating a 3rd night for my stay which I'd neglected to mention when first booking my room.

My wife and I had a wonderful time staying at the Blooming Garden Inn. The room we had was very elegant, beautiful and created a peaceful kind of feeling for us. We connected with Frank and Dolly who are the most gracious host anyone could ever want at a Bed & Breakfast. The food was outstanding. The conversation with other visitors was great and the peaceful easy feeling was just what we needed during our stay. I recommend to anyone who is planning a trip to Durham, North Carolina to seriously consider staying at the Blooming Garden Inn. I really appreciate the friendship we made during our stay. It will never be forgotten.

This is the most fantastic bed and breakfast. My friend and I got stuck in a terrible snow storm and were forced off the road in a strange city late at night. This was the closest place to stay anywhere so we called and they said they had rooms available. Their kindness and generosity was astounding. It was like coming to an aunts house, they were warm and friendly, and treated us like they had known us for years. I know that I will defiantly come back!

I just had the distinct pleasure of spending three nights at the Blooming Garden Inn and could not more heartily recommend this oasis of charm and hospitality right next to downtown Durham. Run by two of the kindest, most welcoming people, Frank and Dolly Pokrass, the Inn is a restored Queen Anne house imbued with charm, whimsy, and comforts galore. Frank and Dolly are as gracious as they are helpful. Frank does masterful work in the kitchen serving a hot, fresh breakfast each day, while also offering terrific guidance should you need it to ensure a stimulating stay in Durham, as well as a good meal on the town. The price for their rooms is very reasonable (I stayed three nights and the tab stayed under $500), while the location is excellent for the downtown area and perhaps a mile or so off of Duke's East Campus. They do keep some pets, you should know, though of the sweetest sort, who keep their respectful distance from you.
