        The Animas Museum is owned and operated by the La Plata County Historical Society, with the mission to keep La Plata County history and culture alive for present and future generations. Current exhibits at the Museum explore how Native Americans, education, mining, ranching, fires, the railroad, law enforcement and tourism have shaped La Plata County.
