My wife and I took our 13 year old to put her down. She hadn't been able to get up and quality was gone. All animal parents know how painful this is. The Tech's were so nice and brought a quilt in the room so we could be on the floor with her.. we were crying and telling her how much we loved. Suddenly, the door opened and Dr. Chappell came in like a bull in a china shop. Is this Lexi ? she barked, no it's Gracie.. well, where's her chart !! she said so nasty and totally not caring for us.. I have to have a chart!!! We're sitting their crying and she's screaming for a chart.. no empathy!! She finally fount the chart( which was already in her hand)... I angrily asked her to leave the room and sent another vet in. The entire staff is so nice and friendly..just hate that they have a vet that has no bedside manners.

I've been bringing my cats to Dr. Banning and his associates at Dunbar Animal Hospital for over 30 years, and have NEVER gotten anything but kind, compassionate, expert care. Dr. B helped one of my cats survive feline leukemia; it lived for four more years after initial diagnosis. I was so grateful.
The veterinarians, technicians and office staff at Dunbar Animal Hospital are, in my opinion, some of the best in the Kanawha Valley, and prices are reasonable and competitive.

I have taken my animals there over the years and thought the staff to be friendly and for the most part helpful. However, after yesterday, I will never use them again. A semi-feral cat was left behind at my grandmother's house when her neighbor's moved and she has been feeding it, trying to be able to help it. It got hit, severely injured, and when we called ahead to the vet we were informed it was "by appointment only" and they could "try" to fit us in. Good to know they are only helpful when you have an appointment. Despite expressing how urgent the matter was, they were unwilling to help. Be sure to not take any unexpected accidents/ injured pets here!

go somewhere else for acute cate

I took my sweet sick 2 year old yorkie to see dr Miranda rossi after being at the emergency animal hospital who was wonderful. Dr rossi was rude and more concerned about getting out if work on time and my dog was not just a simple routine check. She snatched my dog up and said i ll just have to see what i can do with this he is really sick. If it hadnt been friday evening and i was so upset i would have grabbed my dog from her and went some where else. Come monday morning i call to check on the status of my sweet dog and she called to say basically she was unsuccesful told me i was wasting her time and to come get my dog plus even more i owe her even more money. I wouldnt let dr rossi take care of a worm. She. Is the rudest person. I have ever met dont waste your money in her expertice or professionalism because she has none. Save your money and take a little extra time it will be worth it and give your pets life a fighting chance unlike my sweet dog. She just took my money my pride and ultimately my sweet dogs chance for life
