Randys Auto Plaza

BUYER BEWARE! I found a car on Craigslist under the "cars & trucks - by owner" category. Gave the person a call and set up a time to view the car. He told me he lived across from Road Ranger in Dubuque. My girlfriend and I got there and realized the car was actually for sale at this dealership. Overall the car, a 2002 Mitsubishi Galant, looked good. We took it for a test drive and it seemed like the transmission was shifting very hard. We got back to the dealership and I told Randy overall we liked the car but we were in the process of moving 1000 miles away so I would feel way more comfortable if he would let us take the car to get a used car inspection. He tried getting me to take it to "his" guy down the street, but I said no that I wanted to take it to the Mitsubishi dealership in town. He eventually said that was OK and I said I would be back closer to the appointment time. Well about an hour before the appointment Randy called me and said after thinking about it for a while he didn't feel "comfortable" with me taking it to the factory dealership. He spouted off something about a bad experience with getting keys made or something. He then tried getting me to take it to "his" guy. I said no I refuse to take it there that I need to take it to a place that I decide on. Well he flat out said no and that was that. If I were you I would avoid Randy's Auto Plaza at all costs. He clearly is selling shady vehicles that will probably break down on you within a day or two of buying them. If he believed in the vehicles he sold he would let you take the car anywhere for a used car inspection.
