Avery Coonley School is an independent school for students inpreschool to eighth-grade. Avery Coonley School is situated on 11-acres of wooded area, adjacent to a forest preserve in Downers Grove, Ill. The school campus features playground areas, a swimming pool and numerous maple trees. The school s director of student services is available to work with students and parents on various matters, including behavioral and emotional issues, parenting skills and social development. Avery also provides short-term counseling as well as support groups for new students and students belonging to families dealing with separation and divorce. It also provides parent education programs on various parenting issues, social and emotional needs of gifted children, spirituality and children, Internet issues and talking to teenagers about sex. It also provides summer programs including special academic classes, instructional swimming, a recreational program, chess program, nutrition program and various preschool programs.
