I purchased a coffee table 2 months ago from RiverGrain. It was a custom order to match some of my other furniture in the home. Ian was very helpful and quick to respond. I got pictures of the coffee table along the way and was given constant updates. His initail lead time was 2 weeks. I received my coffee table in about 3 weeks. I will be ordering from RiverGrain again. Never again will I buy from a box store.

I wish I had read these reviews. My experience is similar. Cancelling on pick ups. Won’t deliver after promising to multiple times. Excuse after excuse. They have my money and I have no bed. I’m 4 months into their run around. Do not do business with them.

I am very shocked to see all of these reviews. Not sure if I ordered from the same company or not!

I ordered my bed from Rivergrain a few months back. My fiance and I had just moved into a new home and we desperatly needed a new bedset for our room! One of my friends reffered me to them. They had also ordered a bedroom set.

I contacted them through their Facebook page and Ian responded within the hour. He discussed different wood we could use and what kind of paint I would want. He was very informative on how the process worked with ordering and how long it would take.

I ordered my bed around January 10th and received my bed on Febuary 2nd. He sent me pictures of the process along the way and answered any questions. Rivergrain delivered my bed AND set it up for me since my fiamce wasnt home to help!

All around very nice people that own this business! We are in love with our bed and will be ordering a table soon! Thanks Rivergrain!!!

Unfortunately, I was unable to speak to the quality of their work nor to what Ian looks like in person.

October of 2017, I contacted RiverGrain through their Facebook account via messenger. Within a very reasonable time, Ian called me to talk about the custom piece I wanted. (A round clock backing, 40 inch diameter with multiple pieces of wood and different shades of stain.)

On November 11th 2017, we agreed to meet at his workshop in Freeport, MI. After informing him I was on my way there, he contacted me to let me know he couldn't make it due to a death in the family but asked if I would drop the money outside of his locked building. Not thinking much of it, I dropped the cash (full payment of $65). Since then he canceled 12 pickup times we had scheduled and both agreed upon. The most recent was April 1st, 2018. I do live an hour away and my meet up times were fewer and probably harder than the average to agree upon but he agreed 12 times to meet and didn't make it to any of them.

Excuses for canceling: death in the family, sickness, scheduler was not working, forgot the piece at his shop, weather, and all together ignoring messages until a different day. Received no proof the piece was actually completed even after asking for a picture at least 10 times. When asked for a full refund April 1st, he has become non-responsive.

I haven't met him in person and I am not sure he makes the wooden items himself or if the building I went to was even his. There was no sign to indicate it was a business. Also, it was in a very rural area, on a dirt road, surrounded by farms, and close to nothing including Dorr, MI.

Aside from being ignored, he was very nice and very apologetic for missing or "flaking" as he put it every time. Even until yesterday I thought it was a hard working man that has just had a bit of a hard time but it is looking like I was duped. Take it from this dumb lady, don't trust this business and don't give any down payment or payment until you see the final product in your vehicle.

This is the ONLY review I have ever left for a company. The service and communication of River Grain Wood in Caledonia or Dorr maybe?(they never actually gave us the full address) is the worst I've ever experienced. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional company! Our experience with River Grain is almost 100% identical with the review left by Rebecca M. on Yelp. Our whole process started on Black Friday. River Grain was offering a Black Friday deal on some night stands. Not only did we place an order for the night stands, we added a dresser, and head/foot board combo for our bed. We ordered an entire bedroom suite without so much as even looking at the quality. Not once but twice, we were told we could come out and see the quality first hand and then pay for the furniture. On both ocassions "it just didn't work" for River Grain to have us come out. This was only slightly annoying, but we were willing to proceed with the order and figured if the quality was subpar when we went to pickup the items, then we could deal with it then. We were given dates of completion mulitple times, with each time being pushed back farther and farther. We were told again, that we could pickup the furniture on Saturday, December 16th. Once again, River Grain cancelled on us. At this point we had sold our old night stands, dresser, and headboard. After River Grain cancelled on us they said that we could absolutely pickup the furniture on Wednesday evening December 20. We were asked what time we would be there, to which we responded with "we will be there by 5pm". I had planned to take off work early to get the furniture picked up. Well, the afternoon of December 20, we were cancelled on again. I'm running out of characters to use for this review. When it was all said and done. River Grain told us to take our money elsewhere!!!!!!!!Terrible Terrible Service.
