Stephanie, I have an abandoned cat that had beautiful kitties - and they are now 6-7 weeks old. She brought them to me on my patio.
By all means you are welcome to one or tow. I have an indoor cat and she will NOT allow any animal in "Her Home".

Poor adoption policies. I have been a cat owner my entire life. I have volunteered at shelters in the past and we love our cats like children (I even have a youtube page devoted to them. ha!). We were denied adoption for LIFE from Bay Area Pets. Here's why: Last year, we took in a feral mother cat and her two kittens. Several months later, we moved from our home in Clear Lake to Tuscan Lakes. During the move we put the cats in the master bdrm with a SIGH on the door that said "Do not ENTER". The movers didn't speak English, so they opened the door. Two of the cats bolted out and then out the front door. I looked for them for months, I put signs Everywhere at every intersection, mail box, I paid for flyers to go out to shelters, and animal hospitals, etc. They were never found. The remaining cat (Glitter) lived happily with us until 2 weeks ago when my child opened the front door to let in a friend. Glitter (like all cats) tried to get out, and she was successful. I was unaware she had gotten out. A neighbor called me later and said our cat was hit by a car, I disregarded her comment as our cat was an indoor cat. she insisted it was Glitter. My husband and I quickly went out and discovered it was her. We collected her body, and even had a little burial service so the kids to say good-bye to their little friend. We decided we wanted to rescue 2 cats a few weeks later. We drove to many shelters (from N. Shephard up in the north west part of Houston to Galveston, looking the 2 perfect cats for our home). We finally found 2 perfect cats that would fit with our family (3 children). We had THREE visits to these cats so I could watch them interact with my children to make sure they were a perfect match. THEY WERE PERFECT! After all the long drives and searching, and phone calls, we finally found them!! Bay Area DENIED us adoption of these 2 cats because of the death of Glitter and the escape of the feral mother and other kitty. I was told our house was "HIGH RISK" and that "we don't want our kitties to be killed by a car or get out and run away like your other cats." She absolutely didn't care about the circumstance. She said no and that the DENIAL is PERMENANT!!! Lets put this into perspective: My cats treated like royalty in every sense of the word. They even have their our room upstairs where they can get away when needed. Our family is incomplete without kitties. I work at home, and so my cats have nearly constant attention and affection, not to mention plenty of IAMs and the occasional treat. I just can't believe Bay Area Pet Adoptions would rather KEEP THE CATS IN A SHELTER than also our family to give them a good home, saying that our house is HIGH RISK to ANIMALS. My kids played with those 2 perfect cats 3 times and were in love with them. Our hearts are so heavy with disappointment.

Repeat adopter here. Love them & would not hesitate to adopt from them in future. The staff & volunteers really get to know these pets & their personalities...which is great! I read some of these reviews...but have had nothing but great experiences with them.

I would give them a zero if I could. The volunteer at Petsmart was very nice. The woman who makes the adoption decisions was a horrible person. She was snide and rude. I wish I remembered her name. She didn't believe anyone with children should receive a pet, specifically one with an autistic child (whom the cat bonded with immediately). Her theory was that a cat should have it's own room in your house. She told me that because their animals were never euthanized and they ran on donations, they can deny anyone they want and to "go find a place without standards" if I wanted a cat. That cat was still in a cage a year later. It seems as if they don't want to adopt out, just receive funding.

I picked a kitten at the Webster shelter from an abandoned litter. He's wonderful and happy; well loved by both my children and we've had him for a year now.

Basically: do not donate to this place. Do not adopt from this place.

Another rescue group who is be...

Another rescue group who is better than the rest of us. I have had cats for most of my 60 years and recently lost one I had shared my home with for over 10 years. But evidently this isn't good enough or my views are not what they "should be" to own a cat as far as these folks are concerned. Its a lovely place and their cats have "sponsors" so why should they adopt them out. Seems like just a high priced hoarding operation to me.
