Iowa Workforce Development links job placement and skill development into a system of lifelong learning and opportunity. Through resources and services created for employers, employees and the unemployed, the agency helps the citizens of Iowa take control of their economic futures and the security of their families. It contributes to the economic security of Iowa s workers, businesses and communities through a comprehensive statewide system of employment services, education, and regulation of health, safety and employment laws. Iowa Workforce Development helps employees update and develop skills, learn job marketing strategies, and gain access to support and testing solutions. The agency serves employers by providing information on Iowa s job market, consulting on employment regulations, and offering references and skills assessment for productive employees. It was established in 1986 by Iowa Code Chapter 84A in accordance with the Department of Employment Services. Iowa Workforce Development maintains a location in Des Moines, Iowa.
