X-rays

The gums then start to swell, appear puffy and bleed easily. In this stage, also called gingivitis, the patient experiences little discomfort. These symptoms are reversible with regular dental cleanings and proper oral hygiene habits.

Root Canal Treatment
Â Dental implants have high success rates and many benefits over more traditional treatments such as bridges. With bridges, your dentist shaves down teeth next to your missing tooth to create space for the restoration. Deep Cleaning
Scaling and root planing is beneficial to patients with chronic periodontitis removing the buildup of plaque and tartar from the teeth and roots. The area is numbed and the periodontist will access the root surface to remove plaque, bacterial toxins, and tartar. Root planning then smooths the rough patches on the rootsâ€™ surfaces to prevent future bacteria and plaque accumulation below the gumline, enabling gums to properly heal and reattach to the tooth.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral Surgery
Minor bone grafting: Â typically falls within the parameters of oral surgery and can generally be managed in an office setting. These grafts are generally placed in preparation forÂ dental implants.
Flap Surgery
Flap surgery is, by far, the most common surgery used in periodontal therapy. More advanced cases of periodontal disease involve gum pockets that are too deep to clean without reflecting back the gum tissue for access.
Osseous Surgery
Usually, we find that the bacteria have caused the bone to resorb and become pitted. Flap surgery can then give access not only for root cleansing, but promotes recontouring of the bone itself. Thatâ€™s why performing osseous surgery is a good way to eliminate moderate pockets.

Ridge Augmentation
Ideal candidates for implants must be in good general and oral health. Successful bone height and width to hold the implant are imperative. There must also be sufficient bone available above the mandibular nerve in the lower jaw. We determine this by a clinical exam and x-rays. Our team now has the ability to increase the amount of bone with ridge augmentation procedures if insufficient bone exists.
