Humane Society of Delaware County

My husband and I have been visiting the facility almost everyday and weekend to try and find a good companion. When we finally found the dog we believed was the perfect fit the Delaware humane society put us second in line for her. My husband and daughter were the first ones to see the dog,first application turned in and he was there each day they opened the doors to visit her at 1pm. They never called our references or our vet to find out any information of how good of parents we would be. Why fill out an application if they aren't going to their job. Instead they called and told us we were second on the list because they felt it was best the dog go to a family who already has other dogs in the house. Lindsey the office manager made this decision based on her own feeling not fact from references or that we were the first family to see the dog. We were in there today to look at adopting a dog. We found one we fell in love with. Due to your unrealistic policy of 4H rabbits we were denied the ability to adopt a dog. I have two upset girls one is in tears because you seem to not want to adopt a dog out to a wonderful home who would have loved her very much. I will not return to you to look at any more animals, I will also not recommend you to anyone that I know of that is looking at adopting an animal.

I've never seen a more loving group of people care for animals. They try to find them loving homes. But better than that they take the sick, the injured, and unwanted or homeless animals and give them as much as they can and work very hard to get the all the animals well then give the as much love as they can until a home is found.

This group of people deserve all the praise possible. Thank you.
