Be very careful if you take an animal out of there, they are not interested in the welfare of the animal as much as they are in you taking it home. I adopted a 10 year old dog that has Cognitive Dysfunction Syndrome (doggie dementia) but I didn't know it when I took her as you can only walk them on a leash & pet them (which I later found she does endlessly). I got it home and it just paced from morning to night in my home without stopping, ran in a constant circle when in my backyard, 100% no response to any verbal communication or noise, got confused on getting in the door (always stood to the side of the hinges waiting for it to open) could not hold her bladder (was told she was not potty trained, but I found she was, she just would go again 2 minutes after you let her in, sometimes) had absolutely no response to human/dogs, or anything else for that matter (it did stay to get petted though). It gorged food down like it hadn't had any ever & no matter how much it ate, it wouldn't stop, yet you could feel this dog's spine and bones (I thought it wasn't being fed properly when I first saw it). The only thing that it would respond to is food. I called them after a couple days of having this dog and they claimed they did not know anything was wrong with it. Since they say they evaluate animals, one would think just by the way she ate and how you could feel all her bones there was a problem (she had been there for a month I was told), not to mention absolutely no response to verbal communication of any kind (maybe deaf, who knows?) - Danielle told me I could come up there at 7 PM, she would be there, take the dog home with her to evaluate it as I was concerned about what would now happen with the dog...I got there at 7 PM, she was not there, and was told by others the dog was not going to go home with anyone but would stay at the shelter, and would be back up for adoption. I told them that this dog needs to be seen by a vet, and in the best interest of the animal should not be put up for adoption until it is evaluated & explained all behavior in detail. I was told I didn't know what I was talking about, it was just old age and that she responded to verbal communication from them, so I asked her to show me and then the lady said she had better things to do ( ? yeah right). God only knows who is going to adopt this dog, find out you can't leave it in the house & just leave it outside (which it cannot take) or try and discipline it (which it doesn't understand at all) keep it penned up or just let it go. I told them if they properly evaluate this dog which they should have done in the 1st place, I would be interested in keeping her based on the outcome, but they are more interested in just pawning this dog off on someone else instead, how sad if they think they are doing this animal a favor -
