Petrusha Family Dentistry

My family had been patients of this dentist for around 18 years, starting back when the office was on Joy Rd. One day, my wife had to change an appointment for one of our daughters due to an unexpected high school activity she wanted to go to. We got an $80 service fee, even though my wife took her place and came in for her own dental care. Along with the service fee we received a letter in the mail stating at least a couple times in the verbiage that we (my family) had "failed". I called Dr. Petrusha and told him his letter was not appropriate for a family who had been patients for 18 or so years and had a lot of services done, but he did not care. I myself have had numerous crowns (13 of them) and fillings done. I also realized it was time to find a new dentist, as we had obviously overstayed our welcome.

I went to a new dentist about 1.5 years later from my last periodontal cleaning at Dr. Petrusha's office. I had my cleaning done at the new dentist, and I asked the hygienist if I needed to come back in 3 months for another perio cleaning. The hygienist said no, you can come back in 6 months and told me I did not need periodontal cleaning, as she said my gums were very healthy and I had no pockets. I have had a few more 6 month cleanings with other hygienists at the new dentist and none of them were perio cleanings.

I regret trusting Dr. Petrusha and paying for more frequent periodontal cleanings and at a higher cost and at a higher co-pay % all those years. It makes me wonder whether the 13 crowns I now have, were all necessary.

One last negative about this dental practice is that you end up having to make multiple payments for every service. You always pay once at the point of service and then always without fail you get a bill in the mail because Delta did not pay the expected insurance share, due to the charges being higher than customary for this geographic area.
