Went there for the first time today, I love the place! Very helpful people and nice variety of fish, awesome deals too! As for the bad review, I did not think the place was dirty and the fish looked healthy to me I bought a few!

This place is a dump. Yes they have a large variety of fish but their tanks are full of dead fish. I've had the same tin foils and silver dollars for almost 8 years. Bought a few small fish during their Sunday 1/2 off, within 4 days they all died. one week later my tin foils and silver dollars died. these fish where 8 years old and very healthy! Stay away from here, buy gravel, food anything else you need but stay away from their FISH.

This place is awesome, anyone who feels otherwise does not know anything about aquatics! But if you don't, talk to anyone there and they will help you with any and all your questions. They are very welcoming every time we go and I've spoke to so many others that would swear this is an amazing place. Half price on Sunday and every day is buy 2 get 1 free. They can special order fish for you, but they already have a wide selection of healthy fish. 5 stars times 100.

Jan is the sweetest and her son is one of them kind of people that know matter what he will make you laugh I won't go to any other fish store they have a good selection of fish and they always have something new every week.

Most stem plants come wrapped with a lead weight. Fortunately, the lead weight is an inexpensive and simple solution to keeping the plants bundled and stationary. Unfortunately, the lead weight inflicts physical damage to plants over the long-term. The steps below are most conducive to quickly establishing stem plants with a minimum of replanting due to them floating to the top.

1. Remove the weight

I am stupid and did not know this. Had Jan TOLD me I could have spared the lives of 15 fish and over 125.00 ( Jan's owe me new fish) Sad mine died from the lead wrap

Awesome fish store. They have a very large variety of fish. FAMILY owned. They threat you like a person not a customer. 1/2 off all fish SUNDAYS! This store is a good drive out of our way but we would never go anywhere else!

I went into Jan's because I believe in supporting local businesses. I purchased a filter, hooded light, and heater for a 20 gallon long aquarium along with a plant. I spent over $100. I could have spent about that at a big chain, so the prices are not the best. While a younger guy working there seemed very eager to help, he want very knowledgeable, and whom I believed to be Jan, did not seem very interested in helping as she did not speak directly to me. Lastly, I would not purchase any fish from this store because almost all of the tanks had dead fish in them. The tank containing the African dwarf frogs had only two or three live frogs and probably close to twenty dead ones in it. I would not recommend this store to anyone, nor will I ever shop here again.

I don't know about the previous writer's review about Leroy's racist views but I had a very enjoyable buying experiance at Jan's today. This store has been in business for 38 years so they must be doing something right! Their prices are second to none and I felt like I was buying frm my own grandma and grandpa after being in the store 10 minutes! I purchased a 90 gallon complete setup with a stand. They make their own stands and they do custom work. They were able to match the wood stain to a sample of my cabinets I brought from home. I personally don't care about whether or not they talk about me in the back room as long as they give me good service and good deal which they did. They also told me it was possible to order fish they didn't keep regularly stocked. They didn't have a large saltwater selection so if that's what you're looking for then it probably isn't the place for you. I personally won't look any further for my freshwater purchases. Overall this is an excellent place for aquarium equiptment and advice. A maw and paw shop I'm happy to give my business to!
