DPL is a regional electric energy and utility company. Its principal subsidiaries include The Dayton Power and Light Company, DPL Energy and DPL Energy Resources. A regulated utility, Dayton Power and Light offers service to more than 500,000 retail customers in west central Ohio. DPL Energy engages in the operation of merchant peaking generation facilities. DPL Energy Resources is a competitive retail electric supplier in Ohio that sells to major governmental, industrial and commercial customers. Through its subsidiaries, DPL owns and operates approximately 1,600 megawatts of generation capacity, of which 2,800 megawatts are low-cost coal-fired units and 1,600 megawatts are natural gas-fired peaking units. DPL is located in Dayton, Ohio.
