I had a new job, (with new insurance), and Dr. McClintock was advertising in my workplace. We have company based insurance, so I assumed she was a provider on my plan. I made an appointment for myself for a routine check up and cleaning. At least several days later, took two of my children on separate days for the same. I was never asked for payment at the counter because they said they would bill the insurance. (I have 100% coverage if using a dentist listed as a provider on my insurance plan.) I didn't know until I received an invoice for an outstanding bill, for myself and two children, of about $350, that they were not a provider on my insurance plan. They saw us three times, and never told us. They insisted that I was told, but I wasn't. I was previously seeing a dentist that I was happy with, with 100% coverage, and only switched to this office after I had a new job with a new plan, so why would I have changed?



Nevertheless, I made some payments towards the balance of about $350. Once I had a remaining balance of $113, they sent my account to a collection agent, and sent me a letter threatening litigation and reimbursing them for court costs if I did not pay the collection agency within 30 days.



It was my mistake for not verifying with the insurance that she was a provider, but they were negligent in not telling me. I was also unfriendly of them to refer me to a collection agency when I had been paying, just didn't have the financial means to pay it as fast as they wanted. (After all, my original intention was to use a dentist on my provider list with 100% coverage, because thats what I could afford).



Don't go if you might need to make payments...you may get sued and have to pay their court costs.



Their office is extremely plush, with flat screen tv's in all the rooms. I get the impression that they are overly aggressive in getting their money because they have a lot of overhead cost to keep up with a luxurious office setting.
