Hello, my family member recently retained the legal services of Attorney Stephen P. Levesque, Cranston, RI, for a personal chapter 13 bankruptcy case. Initially, the case was handled efficiently and satisfactorily. All necessary papers were submitted to the US Bankruptcy Court and to the Trustee in a very efficient manner, and my family member was placed on a minimal repayment plan. However, a few months later, during tax season, a tax issue arose regarding an earned income credit for a minor child that had not yet been born when the repayment plan had gone into effect, and there was a rather substantial amount of money in question. Attorney Levesque was asked to revisit the case, which he did do..very briefly, but at that time, did not appear to be working in the best interest of my family member, but rather in such a way as not to have to invest alot of time and effort into the case, in my opinion. Finally, when my family member and he could not reach a mutual agreement, the attorney submitted paperwork to the court which he signed, the judge signed and the trustee signed, before even communicating this with my family member. Next, it appeared that he began not to return my f/member's phone calls which was upsetting. And he later filed a motion with the court to withdraw as my family member's councel stating that the relationship had broken down and as such, he could no longer represent my family member. In that same letter, he also advised that any person making false and damaging remarks on internet reviews would be sued for defamation and slander. Well I can assure you that this is not defamation of character because it is the God's honest truth. I just felt a need to share this, as this was my family's experience with this particular lawyer. And I personally take full responsibility for sharing this information with you. I was not coerced by anyone in any way, it is of my own free will, and it is the truth.
