The company is an integrated health care group and a world leader in global solutions for the diagnostic imaging field. Born as a pharmaceuticals trading concern, the company has developed an independent industrial production and research activity, specializing its research and development capacities in a specific field - diagnostic imaging. Bracco's laboratories discovered and developed the iopamidol molecule, the first ready-to-use non-ionic contrast medium. In 1994, the company expanded into the United States. It founded Bracco Diagnostics and Bracco Research USA in Princeton, N.J. The United States represents the group's largest market in the sector of contrast agents for medical diagnostics.
