Dr. Amy Klein attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln prior to being accepted to the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago where she received her Doctor of Optometry degree in 2010. She performed her rotations in advanced care, pediatrics, contact lens and primary care at Omaha Eye and Laser Institute in Omaha, Nebraska; Advanced Eye Care Centers in Centennial, Colorado; Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw, Michigan; and Illinois College of Optometry Pediatric and Advance Care departments. Dr. Klein has extensive experience in family eyecare, including dry eye management, childrens’ eye examination, school related or computer vision problem-solving, eye surgery co-management and contact lens fitting. Dr. Klein and her husband, Nick were both born and raised in Nebraska and love calling it home. They enjoy spending time with their families especially their sixteen nieces and nephews of all ages. She also enjoys anytime spent outdoors, downhill skiing, competitive volleyball, biking and running.

Primary Care
Patients with diabetes are encouraged by their primary care physicians to visit their optometrist yearly. Depending on the level of control and/or years of the diabetes, recommendations can be made on how often follow-up appointments should be considered. If you are experiencing fluctuating vision, blurry vision or loss of vision and you have diabetes, it is very important to visit an optometrist as soon as possible.
Emergency Care
To better serve the families of the military personnel and retired military, Family Eyecare Centers opened an office conveniently located in the Base Exchange building at Offutt AFB. The doctors provide comprehensive eye exams for patients of all ages. The doctors can perform contact lens fittings in addition to the eye exam or within 60 days from the exam with a valid eyeglass prescription. Office visits and emergency care are also available but may require a referral from Tricare, if applicable. Please call our office for further information or if you have any questions.

Ophthalmologists

Glaucoma
Loss of peripheral vision: Changes in peripheral or side vision can occur with different disease to the eye but primarily concerned with signs of glaucoma. Glaucoma occurs with damage to the optic nerve which functions to transmit visual images to the brain. It is usually a slow process with no symptoms but the visual field defects can be permanent.
Macular Degeneration
Noticing distorted images: If straight lines start to appear wavy or distorted, the part of your retina responsible for central vision called the macula, might be being affected by diseases like age-related macular degeneration or other chronic systemic diseases.
Laser Eye Surgery
Refraction: Our doctors will determine if visual correction (i.e. glasses, contact lenses, or LASIK) is needed to achieve the best visual acuity possible.
Cataracts
Cataracts can develop at any age but are typically age-related. If you feel your vision is changing, it is important to have a comprehensive eye exam with a dilation to evaluate any changes to the overall health of your eyes. Sometimes with small changes in cataracts, there are small changes in your eyeglass prescription to correct the blurry vision you may be experiencing. If there are significant changes in the cataracts, the doctors may consider surgical removal of the cataract as the best option. In any case, consider a routine eye exam as the best way to clear, comfortable vision.

In 2005, Family Eyecare Centers opened their 2nd office, just off of 42nd Street and Highway 370 in Bellevue. Bellevue Family Eyecare Center is a full service optometric clinic and dispensary, easily accessible to both Bellevue and Papillion residents. Bellevue Family Eyecare accepts nearly all major medical and vision insurance plans, including Tricare, the insurance provider for United States Military. Thyroid
Tiburon Family Eyecare will evaluate, treat, and manage any signs of ocular disease. It is vitally important to follow recommendations from your primary care physician regarding routine eye exams if you have any medical history. Diabetes mellitus, systemic hypertension, elevated cholesterol, heart disease, and thyroid disease are only a few medial conditions which can affect the eyes. The doctors of Tiburon Family Eyecare focus on the overall health of every patient and know it is important for our patients to continue with great vision throughout their life.
Diabetic Retinopathy
Digital Retinal Photography: This technology uses a computer integrated digital imaging system to record a detailed view of the retina. Retinal photography can be used to aid the dilated fundus exam and photo document ocular conditions such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and optic nerve disease.

Ulcer
Corneal ulcer: A breakdown of the corneal protective layer and infection may cause progressive damage or possible scarring if not treated immediately. Signs of concern are light sensitivity, tearing, pain or discharge from the eye.
