Corvallis Municipal Court

Recently, I had the displeasure of accompanying my mother to Municipal Court. Neither one of us had ever been in a court facility, so I had lots of questions. I spoke to a woman who, when she walked to a desk, called me a loser, and also made a comment about hating people from Cali. I asked for a manager and was told she was unavailable, as she was entering court. I peeked into the court room minutes later and saw the same woman that was standing in the back of the room when I was called the name and who heard the remarks! I can't believe how we were treated and what the woman said. Apparently the court attendants have a chip on their shoulder about people from California. So, anyone visiting or dealing with Corvallis Municipal Court, BEWARE! Especially if you are from California! Corvallis Municipal Court attendants lack the professionalism and ethics most public businesses maintain. Managers lead by example. Apparently this manager leads by allowing distasteful, discriminative remarks against Californians. I flew up from the Santa Barbara area expecting a lovely trip to Corvallis but was sadly mistaken. My elderly mother was so distraught she wanted to leave the premises immediately. People, especially public entities, should think twice when committing negative and hurtful statements about anyone. Californians BE ON YOUR GUARD when dealing with our neighbor to the north and Corvallis Municipal Court. --- On a much more satisfying note, the Judge whom we spoke to was quite helpful and very courteous. If we could have bypassed the woman in the front, the experience would have been very positive!
