Riversports

Was in Confluence for a family reunion and we (pretty much the entire family) decided to go rafting for about an hour or two down the Youghiogheney River. Riversport is conveniently located right by the Yough Riverhouse where we were staying. They explained that we would hear rapids and then there would be a 50-foot long sandy beach on the left side of the river. That's where they would be with a truck to pick us and the rafts up. We get to the "sandy beach" and it's a strip of land maybe about 10-15 feet across that had NO SIGNAGE and no way to know for sure that it was where we were supposed to be. All there was was a lawn sign that said "river photos". Nothing about where to land, or that it was Riversport's put-in/take-out spot. So one raft makes it and one raft (I was in it with my middle aged father who just had knee surgery and another middle aged family member) misses it completely and we are unable to go back. The next opportunity to put in is SEVEN MILES AWAY. THROUGH RAPIDS AND EXTREMELY SHALLOW WATER. It even rained and we heard claps of thunder at one point. After an unexpected and unwelcome crash course in river rafting (and about THREE HOURS later) we arrived at the put in spot for another rental service that had a huge sign and an arrow. I'm no expert but I don't think it's very expensive to build a sign like that for people who want to have a gentle ride down the river and want to know when to get out of it. Also had the pleasure of seeing the Riversport people SMILING AT US from the bank. A welcome sight, to be sure /sarcasm. Not only that, these two jerks didn't even help us beach the raft. They left that up to my mom and aunt. Only until everyone was out and safe did they do anything. Not only that they didn't even ask us if we were okay. This was an experience I hope never to experience again. I certainly won't be giving these people any more of my money. If I could give them zero stars I would. BEWARE THE "PROFESSIONALS" AT RIVERSPORT!!!!!!!!
