Gangrene
Plastic surgery literature shows that traditional liposuction under general anesthesia is associated with complications like deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, abdominal and organ perforation, infection, and internal bleeding. The European literature analyzed data from 72 cases of severe complications from liposuction including 23 deaths (1999-2002) caused from different forms of gangrene and sepsis. Other lethal outcomes were from hemorrhage, abdominal perforation, and pulmonary embolism. (6) Besides the surgical risks there is also a higher risk related to general anesthesia. Liposuction requires substantial downtime, with considerable pain, discomfort, and large scale bruising.

Body Contouring
Dr. Mudd’s areas of aesthetic expertise include body contouring through non-invasive and minimally invasive procedures and skin elevation and rejuvenation. Some of the therapies used involve lasers for fat removal, skin rejuvenation, skin tightening, resurfacing, scar revision, hair removal and vein treats. Broad band light is used for skin discoloration, rosacea, and skin rejuvenation. Injectables such as Botox®, Juvederm® Voluma®, and Restylane are used for wrinkles and to restore volume. Laser Resurfacing
Collagen is the supporting structure of your skin. The fractional laser stimulates the body’s collagen production by penetrating into the dermis in a high density dot pattern. This promotes a rapid healing response due to the presence of stem cells in the surrounding untreated areas, which will promote new collagen growth in the treated area. Alternatively, deep laser resurfacing will remove all the old skin so it can be replaced by younger tighter new skin.
