Columbus Central Veterinary Hospital

This past spring my family and I had an amazing experience working with this hospital. Our golden retriever needed surgery on her knee. TPLO surgery on her back left leg. We waited months to go through with this surgery, as we were concerned for her emotion well being more than anything. We had been consulting with Dr. McGeever over the course of many months leading up to the surgery. He was patient and kind and kept the information, necessary for us to make a well-informed decision, readily accessible. He said to call him at any time with questions and so we did. He recommended the surgery and explained in full detail what the surgery would entail and how much time Kasey would need to be at the hospital for the procedure. He also didn't push us into getting the surgery, but allowed us to just keep in touch as the months went by. It's so difficult sometimes as a pet owner since your pet can't speak! So, after several months and phone calls, Kasey wasn't getting better. She was limping pretty badly and as the injury was now months old, the scar tissue was building up and her arthritis was growing worse. We decided it best to bring her in and have it taken care of. Dr. Ting performed the surgery and everything went exactly the way Dr. McGeever said it would. She was in and out within a couple of days. The friendly and helpful staff kept in close contact with us every step of the way! We got phone calls before, during, after, and way after! I've sent videos to Dr. McGeever of Kasey walking to ensure she was healing ok. He was always very responsive! Amazing to go above and beyond like that! The surgery was in May. Kasey is now fully healed and we couldn't be happier. She's building the muscles back up in that leg and no more limping! We keep her on cosaquin and turmeric pills daily. She's now 8 years old and will be able to continue having a full and active life, thanks to this wonderful place...and especially Dr. McGeever and Dr. Ting. Thank you for everything!!!!

This establishment should be shut down by the NJ Veterinary Board. Patrick McGeever should not be practicing on non-living things let alone living breathing animals. After a 10 minute assessment he tried to pressure us into putting our dog down right then and there! Telling us the dog wouldn't make it if we left. When asked how long the dog had to live he continued pushing euthanasia and saying it was the only option. What is this? A money making opportunity? We took our dog to our real Veterinarian and I say real because the "Vet" we saw, was not qualified. The real diagnosis: a urinary infection. Certainly not something that requires euthanasia. The "Vet" at this hospital was lazy and only cares about ending a dogs life than helping find the real solution. I urge anyone who takes their pets here to be extremely careful. Never miss the opportunity to get a second opinion and NEVER take this mans word for it. This establishment is filthy and I wouldn't be surprised if animals leave more sick than when they step through the front door. I am going to do everything in my power to file a complaint against this place.
