WORST GYM TO JOIN AND CANCEL!!!!

I sent the paperwork in for cancelation and now they say, a year later they have no records of my paperwork or my calls! I called days after the paperwork was sent and was told it was processing. I moved away a year ago!!!!! This is the first time I hear I am not canceled!!!!! DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM! Read all reviews. It's terrible when you need to cancel.

This place will rip you off on deceitful cancellation rules that are not explained when one turns in their notice. I gave them my PCS orders beginning of May ago and was still charged $80 maintenance fee because they delayed the processing the paperwork. I came to find out this morning they only cancelled one account so the charged me again this morning !!! (45 DAYS AFTER SUBMITTING MY CANCELLATION NOTICE). The Rep i talked to referred me to the cancellation department and no one is picking up the phone or returning calls 5 hrs later. Apparently they had failed to inform me that i was to submit two cancellation notices but then she added it was somehow my fault for not knowing. They just give you a run around to keep charging you account.

IF YOU ARE MILITARY AND ON PCS PLEASE CANCEL LIKE 5 MONTHS BEFORE YOU LEAVE GA.... OR ELSE THEY WILL KEEP CHARGING YOUR A/C BECAUSE THEY ONLY ACCEPT CANCELLATION VIA P.O.BOX

I knew I'd only use this gym for a few months before I moved and they were advertising to "cancel anytime." What they don't tell you is you can't. They give you a cancellation sheet that you can only "mail" to corporate HQ which happens to be in Columbus

Process. The form says that your cancellation request has to be Approved and you will pay a 50.00 fee. Well they end up denying your request unless you have military orders (which they have to because it's the law). You can't find anything about their contract online and when you sign up with the

Manager they make it sound so easy to cancel. They also tell you there is no sign up fee but then describe a $40.00 annual gym maintenance fee that comes out month 4. They are purposely deceitful and have no corporate contact number. Your cancellation form states that it will be processed in the order it was received - like they are so darn busy. Again, a ploy to slow roll the process. Let me tell you though, they dumbed a lot of money on legal reviews to catch every single loop hole on canceling your contract. Don't do it! I don't even post stuff on the web but I hope someone learns from my error. Go for a run, do push-ups , something, just don't get involved with this scam.

I love Max Fitness. The staff is very nice and they have a lot to offer. Never had a problem with the daycare. Going to miss it when we move.

Awesome gym! My son loves going to play in the kids area. That was an important part of me picking this gym. I absolutely love the classes!

Everytime I am relocated to Columbus, I join this gym. I have lived in Baltimore, New Orleans, and Atlanta, and Max Fitness can easily compete with other gyms I have joined in big cities.

I have been away from GA for a year and three months. I used to lift there when it was Golds Gym. Once I left GA I gave them my orders and "broke" contract. Looks like they didn't break re contract. About four months after leaving, this gym still was charging me. When I called to try and talk to the owners, it was like I did something wrong. No professionalism.

I joined Max Fitness in May despite what reviews I read online. Everything was explained to me in detail about the membership when I signed up. All of the staff I have met so far have all been very nice and helpful. I really enjoy the classes, and all my friends that I have brought in to join like it too. The friend that joined with me in May had to move because of work and had no problem canceling her membership. I think the place is great and more people should try it out.

This place is terrible they took the heavier weights out one week after I paid. All the bars are bent so bad !!! Their is always machines broken . I have asked time and time again for them to fix them. The locker room smells so bad all the time. They stop having the cleaning people come once a week!!! Its was a lot better when golds had it!! I will not renew for sure!!!!

I joined Max Fitness July of 2011. I was told that any time I could cancel my membership with $50. That was a lie! I am stuck in my contract until it ends...



I tried to cancel my membership about one year ago. I work full time, I go to school, and I have a toddler. I do not have time to go to the gym every day, I wish I did, but I don't. I had a terrible time trying to cancel my membership. The woman who works in the gyms, “Cancellation department," was so unbelievably rude to me, it made me never want to step foot inside one of their gyms ever again! (And I have not).



It will be one year come this October that I have not used Max fitness. I have continued to pay them $70 a month only to preserve my credit! (My husband also has a membership)

I wish that I never signed up with this awful company! Please take my advice and don't join. The person, who you sign up with, will tell you anything (ANYTHING) to get you to join.



One more thing, the child care room is so gross! My baby ended up getting ring worm from their facility. That was one of the main reason I stopped going there.



Over all, these gyms are out dated, overcrowded, poorly employed, and under managed. Save yourself the headache and don’t join this gym!!

This place is a rip off unless you enjoy crowded machines and an inability to cancel!! They will keep charging you unless you Certify Mail them several times. Stay away!
