After the implant has bonded to the jawbone, the second phase begins. The implants are uncovered and small posts are attached that protrude through the gums and will act as anchors for the porcelain crowns. When the porcelain crowns are placed, these posts will not be seen. The entire procedure usually takes four to six months. Most patients experience minimal disruption in their daily life.

Maxillofacial Surgery
Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires four additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school.
Tooth Extractions
After tooth extraction, it’s important for a blood clot to form to stop the bleeding and begin the healing process. That’s why we ask you to bite on a gauze pad for 30-45 minutes after the appointment. If the bleeding or oozing still persists, insert another gauze pad and bite firmly for another 30 minutes. You may have to do this several times.
Bone Grafting
If you are considering implants, your mouth must be examined thoroughly and your medical and dental history reviewed. If your mouth is not ideal for implants, ways of improving outcome, such as bone grafting, may be recommended.
