STAY AWAY!!

If I could give a negative mark, I would. My 6 year old daughter WAS a patient with Dr. Whitacker at the Irmo location. She has had only 1 appointment with him (overall healthy kid); however, several weeks ago, she had a temp of 103 and I of course taking her to the Dr.'s office was my first thought. She rejected foods and liquids and it was a hassle to get meds down. I called every Sandhill location in Columbia and everyone was booked and failed to give me any options. I attempted to call to request an appt (just in case someone cancelled). I was placed on hold for 47 minutes to wait for a nurse although and appt is all I needed. The nurse came onto the line and explained there weren't any appts available still. I stressed my furstration to her and inquired about the wait time. I was very polite considering the circumstances. I had no choice but to take my daughter to the ER. Several weeks afterwards, I received a certified letter at home telling me that I needed to pick up my daughter's records and find another caregive, due to my dissatisfation with their practice!! I assumed this was a joke but after speaking with the office manager ( no help) I was assured it wasn't. I requested to speak with the Dr. but of course he hasn't called or emailed me. I am waiting to hear from someone from the Admin office to file a complainant. Although my daugher will not return, even when they realize I did nothing wrong, its the matter in which things were handled.

My wife is a critical care nurse and mother of our four children. We have been with Sandhills since our first child was born 18 years ago. We have seen them for well check ups, ear infections, colds and multiple referrals for surgery/further treatments. My youngest child had an emergency appendectomy (in which we were immediately sent to the ER for further treatment). She has had tubes placed in her ear after being referred, and surgery on both feet after being referred because of pain in both feet. You could not ask for a more attentive group.

NO knowledge of what they were doing in my opinion. I had to resort to the ER to find the real problem with my 2 month old child. Sad sad sad!! I would stay away !!
