Awful, awful, awful! Do not go there.

I dropped my dog off for a summer cut. "How long?", I asked. "A couple hours". OK, call me when he is ready. 4 hours later, nothing heard. When I called, he was just getting on the table. They announced that their credit card machine was down, and I would have to pay cash. What about a check? No, their check verification gizmo was down. Excuse me? When is YOUR equipment problem MY problem???? They called the supervisor, who is apparently at a different location to get special dispensation for me to use a check. Forget it. Went to ATM to get cash to avoid hassle.

Picked up dog. They did a very poor job. The backs of his legs look like they were trimmed with a straight razor, right down to the skin (which is now red and irritated). I'll have to take the pup to my vet since it is bothering him so much. When the dog got home, he made a beeline for the water bowl and drank it all. Apparently, they didn't offer him water the whole time. All in all, a TERRIBLE experience. Avoid this place.

I took my dog here after reading on their website that their groomer in Collierville, Danielle, does well with hard to handle dogs. My dog is not unruly, but she has a hard time standing because she is old. Upon picking up my dog, it was clear that the job had not been completed. To be fair, I don't know which groomer actually attended to my dog. My 35 lb dog looked like a decrepit lion because none of her head was done, and around her bottom was unfinished as well. I even paid extra because she had some matted hair. I sent an email through their website asking for someone to contact me about getting this fixed, but after a week, no one has contacted me. I don't mind paying extra for making sure things are done right, but this was the most awful experience with a groomer I've ever had. I will go back to my usual groomer from now on. If you cannot deal with certain conditions, make it known from the outset.

This place is wonderful

These lady's truly love dogs! I feel so good leaving my pups here. They get to run around and play instead of sitting in a kennel all day. There was an issue with a former employe but they no longer work there, which shows me they won't put up with some one who doesn't love animals and their job. Their prices are great too. I will drive the extra distance to go here!!!!

Overall
Horrible.........and they will...

Horrible.........and they will take your money regardless if they finish the job or not.

Well, after many times visiting Pet Effects, today was the last visit. They took my money regardless they did not complete the work. Yes, they did. This is a place I have recommended to my family and friends. We have a total of 23 dogs in our family and I recommended it to everyone......wow...did I make mistake? I sure did! As soon as I came home from picking my dog from this terrible place, I made 7 calls and started to share this terrible experience. This place is economical, but, as I always say,,,,you get what you pay. This place is a perfect example.

Please don't go. Visit other places instead.

I left my dog at 10:30 a.m. as they gave me an appointment. So, no call, and no call and no call. So, I called about 4:20 p.m. and I was told 2 hours. So, I said ok no problem. Then, I called at 6:00 p.m. and no answer, so I decided just to show up. Well, my dog was still waiting to be done! So, I said, I just take him and bring him back another day and they say sure, but you have to pay $20. I said....excuse? You must pay us for the wash we gave them this morning. I say, I am sorry, but I did not bring my dog for a wash. So, I don't feel like I should pay you. They say you pay or we take further actions. I said, I could have washed my dog and I did not leave my dog for 8 hours for a wash.

So, since I am a very passive individual and the fact that $20 was so important to them, I said, sure take my credit card and steal my money. You might need it more than I do.

So, you leave your dog for 8 hours, they don't complete because they take more than what they can handle and charge you for something you did not request.

I usually don't write reviews, but I felt so obligated to do it since I felt robbed by this terrible business and I don't want you to experiences this scenario. Please don't even attempt to go.

I learned that it is just better to pay a bit more and leave these terrible places alone and out of business.

Pet Effects:

Enjoy my $20 and I hope you can invest that money on customer service training and additional resources.

Good luck to you.

I am the salon manager for this business. We value our clients happiness with our business. On this paticulair day and situation yes the client did call we told him 2 hours and we would call himm. The customer shows up at a little after 5 not 6 to get his dog. When you make an appointment with us it only gurantees you a spot for that day not that your dog is going to be groomed at that time. I have been in the pet stylist business for over 7 years and around the Holidays is the bussiest for the business. We did apologize to the client for the length of time it had taken on his pet. We groom all our pets in the order that they come in. Some dogs do take longer than others. This paticulair client is use to coming in on Sundays which was our slowest day. Our facility is no longer open on Sundays so that option was not available to this client anymore. He was informed when he dropped the dog off that morning that we were extremely busy and that there were several dogs ahead of his and that he would be called when his pet was ready.... not a problem he said. I do apologize for any issues with our clients. But as a reminder for all our clients and wnybody looking to use our facility " APPOINTMENTS ONLY GURANTEE YOU A SPOT FOR THAT DAY." If you need your pet back by a certain time please make us aware of this at dropp off.

BEST OF THE BEST!

I have four dogs - one is a Great Pyrenees, one a white German Shepherd, and two are... well, who knows. This has been the VERY BEST grooming place I have ever taken them to! Both the Pyrenees and Shepherd shed like crazy. The Pyrenees' coat gets so matted it"s hopeless for me to brush. Melody is very knowledgeable about grooming this breed and does an incredible job at making them all look absolutely beautiful! She is kind and understanding and flexible with pick up and drop off. I would give this place 100 stars if I could. Reasonably priced, kind & caring employees, and very professional service. I am so happy to have discovered Pet Effects in Collierviile and am grateful for the care and service provided here.

REQUEST MELODY

I have been taking my Dogs to Melody for the past 3 years. I have 2 Toy Poodles that love her to death. Melody knows my pets by name and they are always soo excited to go see her. I have followed Melody around to different Grooming Salons and I would highly reccommend using her. I can always rest assured that my babies are going to be treated kindly, cut the way I like and she doesnt take all day like some other places I have taken them to. ~Taz and Izzy's Mom

Overall
Horrible!

We have used Pet Effects quite a bit. We really liked them at first but it gets worse and worse. My dog had a cut on his paw, we were not told but decided to let it go.Accidents do happen. This time, Jennifer, who was supposed to be one of the best, cut part of his ear off.It was NOT a small cut as she said but about an 1/2" of his ear where it meets the fur.I didn't noticed until I noticed he had dried blood on his ear.I called the next day to complain because no one had told us about this.Jennifer informed me she did the cut and had to go to an appointment and left word for the staff to tell us.I do realize mistakes happen but basically all she could say was "you need to brush his ears more they had mats and I had to use the scissors".I did use the special glue to stop the bleeding. This is no excuse to cut off the tissue of a ear.I thought I was taking him to a professional groomer and should know how to do the job right.I will never return. It might of helped if there would have been a sincere apology instead of trying to turn the fault on us.

I sincerely apologize for your Baby's expereince at Pet Effects. It is not acceptable the way you were handled when you called in to inform us of what had happened. In no way was this your fault and I am sorry that it was insinuated you were. I pray that your Baby recovered quickly from this incident. The Groomer that groomed your Pet is no longer with the Company. I am the new Salon Manager and would like to offer you (2) free groomings. If you would not want to come back in to Pet Effects I would be willing to refund your groom. Please know that this type of unsafe grooming is not acceptable and as the New Salon Manager I will be on top of all the Pets that leave the Salon to make sure this does not happen again.

Not good

Getting an appointment is very difficult as it seems when I have been there they have one worker or 2 max. They don't try to reschedule for you or seem to even care if you come there. The place doesn't look very clean or professional. They also don't listen at all to how to cut your dog. Everytime I have asked for just a trim and to keep my dog fluffy, he comes out shaved and way too short! The manager is never there which may be why things are not run very well. They always seem short staffed and frazzeled.

Riley's experience at Pet Effects

We would highly recommend Pet Effects in Collierville, TN. Melody was Riley's groomer today (1/9/2010) and she was excellent; Riley felt comfortable with her and her grooming was excellent.

Overall
Unfair and inconsistent based on who services you

Dear Reader,

Upon taking my pet to Pet Effects Grooming (located on white station road) I must report horrible customer service and the location demanding pay for a cut after specifying to cut the same as the previous visit. In my opinion the representatives (Tanya and Ashley) heightened the price by cutting my pets hair in a way that they could charge more, instead of following suit and cutting the lower price in the last visit. When I dropped my dog off I specifically told a different party, whom cut him the last visit that....."I wanted the same cut as he received the last time". When I returned to pick up my pet gentlemen with blue eyes and black hair greeted me and ran my credit card before telling me what he was charging me for. When my pet was brought out by a female in a John Deere t-shirt (I believe she told me her name was Tanya), asked me what kind of dog was this and insinuated with the sneer statement that she asked because normally people save dogs like that. I professionally disregarded the statement and continued inspecting my dog in disbelief because he received a shave that I did not request. His ears were a bit scraggly looking and I asked Ms. Tanya if she would remove some more of his ear hair. She did so and then replied in a room that I could not see, but I could hear, "Let’s go boy I do not know what the hell she is talking about.” I disregarded that snide remark as well and looked at my credit card bill which the young man charged 72.00. The gentleman looked unsure but steadily explained what he charged for. Earlier that morning the woman that cut my dog the last time I brought my business to "Pet Effects Grooming" I communicated to her that I wanted him to receive what she had done the last time I visited. I feel that the two people in the office at the time that I picked him up, whom I did not know from my previous visit, cut my dog to make me pay a higher price. I chose the small personal, professional, pet stylist because of their convenient location, their feasible prices, and their personable service. I am in serious question of my choice in that to scheme the customer to pay more is not an ethical or economical asset in this day and time. Pet Effects Grooming can look for me to pay before I leave so that I will not be forced to pay the maximum amount for their profit or to look for another pet grooming business.

Thank you

It is regretable that any customer would have such an experiance in our shop that she would feel compelled to write a review such as this. I have an Idea of the circumstances surrounding this complaint and if I am correct in Identifying this individual I would love to see this credit card charge of $72.00 so I can refund any overage. This respnce is dated days after "Tanya' was hired and new hires generally have no customer contact. The regular charges @ Pet Effects Grooming for most dogs 30lbs and under are $20 bath and brush $28 touch up and $40 for a full groom. If I have identified this individual properly on her 1st visit she recieved a full groom for the price of a touch up. Without proof of these awful allagations, which there is none, the word slander comes to mind. Again if this woman checks these reviews I would enjoy the oppritunity to address her issues and if there was an overcharge make a promt refund. Only the largest long h
