Established in 1991, Wheelabrator North Broward is a waste-to-energy plant that provides disposal of municipal solid waste for Broward County in Florida. The plant operates by Wheelabrator Technologies and processes more than 2,200 tons per day of municipal solid waste from the incorporated and unincorporated areas of Broward County in Florida. It provides services 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The plant generates more than 60,000 kilowatts of electrical energy power. Wheelabrator North Broward utilizes mass burns and waterwall boilers for refuse combustion. It also utilizes a variety of advanced equipment, including dry scrubbers and fabric filters. Wheelabrator North Broward is located in Pompano Beach, Fla.
