General Info
Park of the Sierras Park Sierra is a unique destination for RV travelers. Founded in the late 1980s as a nonprofit cooperative, this Escapees park was entirely designed and built by volunteer full-time RVers. It is easy to see and appreciate the ideas these pioneers incorporated into the park: 254 spacious lots on winding, hilly roads, retaining most of our native oak-pine-manzanita vegetation. Our 15, 000-square-foot clubhouse offers a library, laundry, crafts room, billiards room, and a mezzanine with computers, wifi, TV area, and exercise equipment. Coarsegold Creek runs through the park, and the Back Forty Acres offers plenty of open space for walking and hiking. Strategically located near national parks. Just 25 miles north is the southern entrance of the incomparable Yosemite National Park, a must-see destination on anyone's itinerary. To the east is the Sierra National Forest, and to the southeast the magnificent Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks (116 miles). There's gold in them thar hills. Nearby is the quaint mining town of Coarsegold, the last stop on the Forty-Niner's trail; gold is still taken from Coarsegold Creek to this day. Or try your luck at close-by Chukchansi Gold Casino, a modern pot-o'-gold for those inclined to enjoy table games, slots, and fine food. Twelve miles to the north, the upscale mountain town of Oakhurst has an excellent collection of unique shops and a variety of restaurants. A few miles farther is Bass Lake, a popular and scenic fishing, boating and picnicking destination.
