Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
EMG and Nerve-Conduction Studies performed in the clinic for the evaluation and treatment of lumbar and cervical radiculopathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, neuropathy, myasthenia and other muscle or nerve disorders. A nerve conduction study is a recording of the muscular response to electrical stimulation, performed by a technician in the office; it measures the strength and speed nerves cells carry impulses and how well the muscle responds to the impulse. There may be some mild discomfort during the nerve conduction study from a small, but increasing electrical stimulation placed on the skin above the muscle being tested. An EMG, or electromyogram measures the electrical activity of muscle fibers by inserting a small needle electrode into the muscle while it is contracted. EMG testing is performed by a neurologist; muscles are tested one at a time and patients may have some discomfort during the test.
Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a disease of the central nervous system that can be unpredictable and range from relatively benign, to somewhat disabling, to devastating, as communication from the brain and other parts of the body are disrupted. A physician may be able to diagnose MS in some patients soon after the onset of the illness; while in others cases, doctors may not be able to readily identify and diagnose the cause of symptoms.
Epilepsy
EEG and Evoked Potentials monitor the electrical activity of the brain using small electrodes attached to the scalp. An EEG is one of the main diagnostic tests for epilepsy, it can also be utilized in diagnosing other neurological disorders. Similarly evoked potentials measure the electrical activity in certain parts of the brain caused by light and sound, and is used to help diagnose MS or related disorders. Each test takes about an hour to complete and is performed by a technician in the office, the results are reviewed and interpreted by the ordering physician.

Botox
Botulinum Toxin Injections are used therapeutically to treat chronic migraines, muscle spasticity and dystonia by blocking nerve activity in the muscle. Botulinum toxin injections with Botox, Dysport or Xeomin are performed by a neurologist every three months according to an established treatment plan.

Physical Therapy
There are several treatment options for spasticity and dystonia that can be used together to effectively alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life. These treatments include: physical therapy, occupational therapy, bracing, medication, and botulinum toxin injections. Botulinum toxin is a neuromuscular agent that works to block nerve pathways that transmit signals from specific muscles to the brain. When injected into a treatment area botulinum binds to nerve cells and prevents chemical reactions associated with nerve signaling. By controlling the nerves, botulinum controls muscles contractions in affected muscles.
