The veterinarians and staff at Robinson Animal Hospital have seen the heartbreak associated with behavioral problems in dogs and cats. Sometimes, these problems are so severe, they can lead to very difficult decisions for families. These problems include separation anxiety, aggression, and destructive behavior in dogs and inappropriate urination in cats.

Roundworms and hookworms are common in our area, due to our mild weather. These parasites can cause significant health problems in humans as well as animals. Monthly deworming is crucial for controlling the spread of these diseases.

Other vaccines may also be needed, depending on your pet’s exposure risk to areas frequented by wildlife and to ticks. These include vaccinations for Leptospirosis and Lyme Disease, both of which can infect not only dogs, but people as well. The initial series for both of these includes 2 vaccinations, 3-4 weeks apart. They are both boostered annually

There are many health and behavioral benefits in doing so, which we would be glad to discuss with you in detail. If front declawing is to be done, it can be done at the same time as spay/neuter, and in this case, it is better to do surgery at 4 ½ to 5 months old. Declawed cats must not be allowed to go outside. Prior to surgery, your kitten should have a blood panel performed in order to assess the health of their internal organs that process the anesthetics.

Annual laboratory testing, including: heartworm and tick-borne disease testing, feline leukemia/FIV testing, collection of samples for blood panels, urine and fecal testing.
X-Ray
Dental Radiology
Dogs and cats often develop dental problems as they age. Robinson Animal Hospital takes special interest in dental procedures, including routine cleaning and extraction of teeth. We offer dental radiology to help determine the necessity of procedures and perform all dental work with the appropriate amount of pain control and careful monitoring.
Microchipping
10. Microchip identification is a very helpful way to identify your kitten if lost or stolen. The percentage of lost kittens returned to their owners is much higher for microchipped kittens than for those without microchips.
