Nia Association, located in Clarksville, Tenn., is a public nonprofit organization that provides holistic support for people who have developmental disabilities. The organization facilitates personal housing, support systems and managed health care. It supports more than 20 adults and youth in over 10 homes. The residents have single-family, community-based homes that are staffed by direct support specialists on a 24-hour basis. The specialists provide individualized 24-hour supports that enable service recipients to live in a home of their choosing. The recipients receive assistance with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation, household chores, budget management, medical appointments and medication management. Nia Association has a staff of more than 120 people.
