Cedar Crest Academy is an independent day school for early childhood through grade eight. The school s academic curriculum emphasizes personal acceleration, laboratory activity, dialogue in literature, science, current issues, and social and scientific investigations. Multiage learning is encouraged for personal challenge and negotiation. Reading instruction is available at the school, beginning in junior kindergarten. Students are placed into reading groups with curriculum materials according to their instructional level. Mathematical instruction at the academy is individualized from kindergarten through middle school, allowing the child accelerated instruction or additional support. Science and social studies instruction is individualized and customized to accommodate special interests and curiosities. Cedar Crest Academy also offers three foreign language opportunities that allow students to select the language, and culture of their interest. Cedar Crest Academy is located in Clarkston, Mich.
