Zach my son was having so much trouble staying out of drugs. He will promise me never to go back and the next day he is right back at it. This nightmare stopped with the help of the services of ittakes afamily. Thanks so much for helping my son. He is off drugs totally.. Andrea W.

I loved this place. I like that there is no waiting list to schedule an appointment. I also like that they are not so eager to put my kid on medication. They have a standing rule and insisted that if my child was receiving medication he must be in therapy. They explained the 2 work together to give my son a fighting chance. That makes me feel better because i know they do not just want to medicate by child and truly looking out for his interest. My child has shown so much improvement and his medication has reduces greatly which make me happy. I love his Clinician, he is an absolute gem. They also help me and my husband in dealing with my son's acting out behavior which brought us closer. When i first read the other reviews,, i did not want to come but then i thought that no one can be 100% satisfied and did not want anyone to cloud my judgment and wanted to experience it myself. I am truly glad i followed my instincts. I just want to say Thank you It Takes a Family. Please continue to help people no matter what anyone says. Felicia A

Please run the other way!! Never take your child to this establishment!!
I have only had experience with the Bridgeton Office but this office looks to be no different.
It takes a family is not only unprofessional but does not promote or involve both parents in the care of the children they are treating. The therapists and staff are biased towards fathers and treat them as though they are uneducated, threats to their children and dead beats who know nothing about their children and will recommend anything against a Father no matter how involved he is if the other parent is the one funding the parent is funding the sessions. Instead of working on progress for the child they accommodate whatever the parent’s motive and will quickly diagnose a child if that’s what the parent wants.
The purpose of my child going to It Takes a Family is for visitation/Transition/behavioral issues so you would think that both parent’s would be involved in the care and treatment of the child however only one parent’s point of view and concerns is acknowledged resulting in recommendations in regards to my visitation without me every being able to provide my side or concerns or be involved in evaluations and when I call I don’t get a call back. I have joint custody and provided this information and still do not receive a call or information in regards to the care of my child or have a say. I was told in order to even be permitted to attend his sessions the other parent would have to sign an authorization form and if I tried to attend a session without the form being signed the police would be. It took me about 6 months to be able meet with the therapist and she was initially somewhat objective in trying to address both parents concerns but once the other parent became upset and stopped bringing the child as often everything became more in the other parent’s favor.
When I felt that things in regards to me were being shared to the therapist to affect my visitation I called to inform the therapist and was chastised because whatever parent is paying is always right. The other parent had a issue with me communicating with my child and again the therapist recommended that I do not contact my child anymore. The therapist continues to see my child even when there has been no progress for over a year despite the tremendous progress in school but that gets dismissed. They don’t read over the IEP or the school’s progress reports on his behavior and when I brought this up I was told I needed to educate myself on my son’s condition. You would think that because of this the therapist would refer him to another professional who could get through to him but instead of we were advised that has a problem and will never progress and my involvement makes things worse because her 1 hour a month supersedes his schooling that takes place 8 hrs every day or with me.
These people are here for one thing and one thing only money the insurance money and they will give your child all kinds of diagnosis to keep them coming back especially if one parent needs recommendations to support with holding visitation. If the parent who is not taking the child to the appointments is calling providing paperwork requesting to support information that is not being shared by the other parent and trying to be as involved as possible why ostracize them. It amazes me how one parent can go into this establishment and say things about another parent and the therapist will make a recommendation in regards to that without proof but when I parent provides proof to show that the issues are being exaggerated they don’t want to be in the middle. Most professional establishments do not even care for a child or do evaluations unless there is consent from both parents and are very dedicated in involving the parents in the process so that there is more consistency between the two parties and all concerns are identified when caring for the child.
Dear T.S., We really appreciate taking your time to write to us. However, before we could fully address this issue, we will like to gather more information from you, as we would like for your family to benefit from therapy as a whole. We assure you that our intentions are primarily for the well-beings of all our patients. From your letter, it appears that you feel treatment was one sided. Please, be fully aware that a request to see legal documentation as it pertains to custody rights is a mandate that we must follow by law. And, it serves to protect your child and your rights. It is not with the best of intent of your child or any parent to not have a collaborative approach towards care, and while it might be frustrating, we assure you that we are primarily looking to permanently include each family member into care to ensure that we gradually provide the necessary support needed for each family member as it pertains to the well-being of your child. T.S. Please reach out to us at generalconcernsmanager.itaf@gmail.com

Not even worth any rating. HORRIBLE experience. Shouldn't even be in business. Don't think I would ever come back. Going elsewhere.
Hi Haley, we deeply regret the experience you had while visiting us. We would greatly appreciate it if you can provide us with any information about what occurred during your visit so that we can ensure this does not happen to other clients. We always strive to work with families to better improve their mental health. Please, contact us at generalconcernsmanager.itaf@gmail.com.

Do not apply here! This organization is extremely professional. I was hired here as a BA and was told I would have cases soon after I started, two months later still heard nothing from then as to when I would start but demanded me to come to "training", nevertheless I resigned then and there. They are extremely unprofessional from emails to the set up of the organization. Please save your time and do not bother with this them.
Dear Jess, It is unfortunate that you were not assigned a case. However, we try to emphasize, during the hiring process, that the BA position is per diem and is unfortunately unpredictable in nature. Trainings are mandatory to better equip you when you do receive a case; it is meant as a tool to support you. However, I do apologize if you received “unprofessional emails” and would like it if these emails can be forwarded to generalconcernsmanager.itaf@gmail.com. So that it can be further addressed. Thank you for taking the time to review your employment experience with us!

This facility has had a few problems in the past but lately they have made a tremendous change. The front desk still has problems calling back. But the therapist are so great. My son had issues with ADHD and disruptive behavior and they were able to assist him in calming down with new coping skills. The session with the therapist also helped me and my husband to improve our relationships. On occasion when i had difficulty with the front desk, the managers of the facility were always there to hear my concerns and lend a helping hand. Most people who have a good experience usually do not take the time out to write comments, however in reviewing some of the post, i decided that this place can help so many people and has really helped me. They also take so many insurances. I search for days before i found this facility which takes my insurance. I just want to take this time to thank Management and really express my gratitude to my Therapist Maureen for assisting me with my son.
Hello Dorey, We really appreciate your feedback. We have addressed the issue with our front desk. Also, we'd like to thank you for your honesty. The feedback we receive from our patients helps us improve. We are happy to hear that your son has responded well to one of our clinicians and as well as the progress you and your husband have made. If there are any suggestions or comments you'd like to discuss -- please feel free to email us. Our email is generalconcernsmanager.itaf@gmail.com. Thank you.

I called 2 weeks ago to make an appointment and finally got a hold of receptionist (after leaving 2 previous message and not returning back). I got an appointment for 04/19/2016. When I called on the 04/12 to confirm, I left a message which no one called me back. I called back on 04/13 when a sub receptionist answer couldn't confirm cause she couldn't find my daughter on the schedule, left a note to the receptionist to call me back with answers, but no one called me yet. I called back on the 04/15 (friday) left a message no one called me back. And finally I called on the 04/18 still no answers. No and called from this place to give me any confirmation on answer. today is the date of my appointment and I'm not going, this place looks very unprofessional and disorganize.
Hello Eliane, Thank you for your comment. We appreciate your feedback, it is truly our passion to provide care for the family. We apologize for this kind of experience. When I arrived for my first appointment, I got taken in 5-10 minutes late and left 15 minutes early. I talked to the secretary confirming my insurance. I forgot the confirmation number given by my insurance company so I was advised to call and leave the number there. I called but never received a call back. When I went the following week for my appointment, they told me that my insurance was not confirmed yet, and they couldn't do anything about it until later that day. I left without an appointment. I came in for my next (2nd) appointment the following week and get taken back 5 minutes late and got out 15 minutes early. The next week I come in for my 3rd appointment, and they tell me I'm not on the schedule. They also tell me that the therapist I was seeing can't do Mondays anymore and I have to move my two other appointments I already had scheduled. I told her I'm not interested in coming back in. It was very disorganized and unprofessional. I was so disappointed for wasting my time.
Hello Amy, we value your comment. We apologize for your experience. It is true that at times our clinician do change schedules to accommodate for a busier day or time, and we apologize of this was an inconvenience to you. I will like to address the issue of you being "rushed out", this should never be the case. I will appreciate if you can email us at generalconcernsmanager.itaf@gmail.com so we can further address this issue or call us at 6099337044 x 24. Thank you.

If I could give this place a negative rating, I would. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! The most unprofessional front desk staff you could ever communicate with. Wait times for medication is insane! If it wasn't for my daughter's connection with her therapist I would definitely go elsewhere. I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS PLACE!
Hello Melanie, We appreciate your honest opinion and feedback, and we are happy to hear that your daughter had a great connection with one of our therapist. We would like to apologize for any inconveniences caused by the longer than usual wait time. We would like to inform you that part of your candid feedback has played a role in adding new medical practitioners to the team. We have addressed this issue will all team members and if you have any other comments, concerns, or suggestions please feel free to contact us at generalconcernsmanager.itaf@gmail.com as we would like to further discuss this with you. Thank you.

There's no wait list to get in but you might want to put your name on a wait list elsewhere while you start here. Outr 1st appt went well. The second, we had to wait so long past our appt time that we left. I scheduled again with a different therapist. First appt went fine, the second we waited an houre past our appt time and was seen by the director just to sign off on our treatment plan. The 3rd visit, we showed up & the therapist was not in that day but I didn't get a call because the secretary never put us on the schedule, and this was the 2nd time the therapist took off for the day. We started going due to runaway behavior and the need to see the psych doc for antidepressants. Children must see the therapist 3 times before they can see the doc. After our 3rd visit, the therapist called DYFS on us for my kid's runaway behavior!!!!! It did NOT help the situation. I hate this place.

I recommend that you avoid this organization. The general atmosphere here is chaos. Wait times for appointments can be more than 90 minutes. One morning we waited for almost an hour, only to discover that the doctor was not even in the office.

Wow...this place is a mess. You aren't helping with anyone's mental situation when they have to wait 1-3 hours from their appointment time. If you are at capacity, don't schedule anymore appointments.

I almost never leave reviews for any place but I have to for this one. I can say that the receptionist who answers the phone and (supposedly) schedules appointments is very very nice and patient and honestly should look for a better place to work. I called to make an appointment for my daughter to see a therapist, went to the appointment to find out that they never put her in the system. They said the therapist would still be in today but later in the afternoon. So they scheduled an appointment for us that doesn't exist. We scheduled our day around it and I was not coming back. No notification to the patient that they need to reschedule or that the therapist isn't even there. I saw these reviews before I went in but figured I'd see for myself and within the first 5 minutes realized it was time to walk out. Not really a good way to run something supposedly dedicated to helping families and children who need mental and emotional help.
Hello Faye, we sincerely apologize for the trouble that you’ve seemed to go through when you attended one of our offices. MY DAUGHTER WENT TO THEM AND SHE STATED TO THE THERAPIST THAT I COULD BE IN THE ROOM DURING THE THERAPY SESSION AND THAT THIS IS THE LAW BECAUSE SHE'S A MINOR. THE THERAPIST GOES OFF ON BOTH ME AND HER AND GIVES US A NEW THERAPIST. BUT MY CHILD DIDN'T WANT TO HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM AFTER WHAT HAPPENED IN THE OFFICE. THE THERAPIST SAID THAT MY CHILD WAS RUDE TO HER AND ALL MY KID WAS DOING WAS STATING TO HER WHAT THE LAW IS. I'M A CRIME MAJOR.
Hello Renee, we’d like to apologize for the delay in our response to your review. The worst unprofessional business I have ever delt with. Med script errors 2'x in 3 months times and then it takes weeks to get them corrected. Staff very nasty & defensive when you question them. They have a lot of staff changes never the same therapist twice and no notes are ever read. They admit that too. All they want is $$$$ It's an insane place. BEWARE and they are allowed to write scripts for dangerous drugs??? BTW you will never see a MD only APN's. RUN AWAY. We saw the commotion in there all the time and many people walking out as the wait times are very unpredictable. We waited 2 hrs one day. We should have seen the signs. They will be reported to the State for a full inspection.
UPDATE BECAUSE OF A MED ERROR ON A PRESCRIPTION, OUR SISTER ENDED UP IN THE ER IN CRISIS BECAUSE THEY REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THANKS A LOT. A FULL REPORT AND A COMPLAINT WILL BE SENT TO THE STATE OF NJ LICENSING & INSPECTIONS FOR REVIEW.
Hello Carol, first, we’d like to apologize for the delay in our response to your review. We are moving in a new direction, and made a commitment to respond to all reviews despite their date of entry. Please note, that we take psychotropic medication seriously, and we truly understand the impacts of errors. It is challenging to complete treatment when there is not a collaborative voice, we attempted to work with you and your family but we could not seem to agree on a united front to provide care. We truly wish you and the family best!

I am so furious!! I had an appointment(much needed) at 12pm on Friday... I had a stroke in November and cannot stand for a period of time. I stood there about 15 minutes waiting to just sign in and pay co pay, then, I finally got to sit down. the receptionist then comes to me and says to go back to desk, so I did..she proceeded to tell me that whoever made the appointment the day before screwed up scheduling and I couldnt be seen!! then the guy derik took me, all he did was review my info!! STILL no one to talk to, then was told to come back next week. I was so upset because im a hair from going to crisis!!! the entire problem was so unprofessional!!! the girl at the desk had no clue how to manage a situation.

The. Worst. Therapists are good and actually care, but the whole structure/business is the worst. Owners/officers care about nothing but making money. Getting an appointment is a hassle, no one communicates, if you have an issue and have to try to talk to someone in charge, they are completely rude and insulting, even to their own employees! The therapists and lower level employees are trying their best but the higher ups could care less and cause them headaches at every turn. Dumb policies, breaking HIPAA left and right, nothing is focused on the patient. Avoid at all costs.
- Hello Lauren, I’d like to apologize for the late response. We at ITAF are moving in a different direction in 2016 and so we’re answering all reviews no matter how late they are. The office staff is fantastic and everyone is very personable. They paid attention to details and really attended to my requests. My son was in serious need of therapy and the therapist was a perfect match for him. I highly recommend the staff and the therapists at ITAF.

The worst health care situation I have ever found myself in. I am on Psychiatric Medication that is due for refill. It is a benzodiazepine which you cannot just stop "cold turkey" without risk of withdrawal, seizure and even death. My psychiatrist is on vacation and basically It Takes A Family has no structure in place that when a doctor is on vacation they have a way to get your medication filled. They basically just say "we have to wait to hear back from the doctor before we can call it in." Well, they left him a message on Tuesday (11-18-14) and he still hasn't returned their call as of today (11-20-14). I keep calling them as I desperately need this medication and they keep telling me they have to wait to hear back from the doctor. I've been on this medication for a long time and they have my chart with all of my information and they still insist there is no way to get the refill. What about a back-up doctor or nurse practitioner to handle these situations when the doctor can't be reached? Isn't it required to have a doctor "cover" for you when you are on vacation or otherwise unavailable? Get this - their advice is to go to the Emergency Room. Who's going to pay for that at an average cost of $1000 per visit? My psychologist there is fantastic. But as far as medication management and making sure their patients are safe and get refills when due - this place is a disaster.
- Hello Edward, thank you for your honest feedback. I’d like to apologize for the late response. We at ITAF are moving in a different direction in 2016 and so we’re answering all reviews no matter how late they are. We understand the urgency clients experience and the anxiety it creates when their medication is running out and we have a system in place to avoid these challenges. We would also like to apologize for any inconveniences caused by miscommunication. While we are fully aware that you are probably seeking services elsewhere, we wanted to acknowledge and apologize for any inconveniences. We have addressed your concerns with front desk and other parties involved. Of course, if you have any other comments, concerns, or suggestions or would like for us to further resolve this issue please feel free to contact us at generalconcernsmanager.itaf@gmail.com. Thank you.
