        The Best Damn Original Maxwell Street Polish Dig In Chicago!

        Shame on Chicagoans for not reviewing Jim's yet because it's the best!



        I'm a native Chicagoan who had the opportunity to visit my home town in 2007 as a "tourist" after many years of living in the Southeast.



        I went to the Taste (which was a madhouse of a crowd) and I visited some places I had never been before, one of which included Jim's Original for the Maxwell Street Polish.



        Yes, this is THEE place to go for the real Maxwell Street Polish experience. I got the original polish, which included the large sausage, pile of grilled sweet onions, mustard and hot peppers that will light up your life but ohh, it's damn good.



        I sat in the car out front of the spot eating the tasty meal with fries on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in July before flying out.         We are the longest continuously operating hot dog stand to have done business on Maxwell Street. Except for a short closure in 2001, when we were relocated from Maxwell Street to Union Avenue, we have been in business since 1939, with 62 years of history on Maxwell Street. Jim’s was so well-known and has so consistently served our food that we became the cornerstone of the Old Maxwell Street Market until its relocation in 1994. People still identify the Old Maxwell Street Market with the sweet smell of onions that emanated from Jim’s stand.
