Michelle Wasserman, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist with particular expertise in health psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and uses integrative approaches to treatment to adapt to patients’ needs. She specializes in several areas of women’s health including mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders/body image issues, coping with cancer and issues related to cancer genetics, stage of life transitions, and relational issues. Comfortable treating both men and women, she has particular expertise in helping women manage perinatal issues, especially anxiety and depression related to conception, pregnancy, and the post-partum period, and in developing healthy and positive choices around parenting and work-life balance. She also enjoys working collaboratively with patients in making lifestyle and behavioral changes, in areas such as smoking cessation and weight management and is particularly interested in helping patients learn mindfulness-based strategies, especially as a tool to help manage anxiety and depression. In addition, she works with patients and families in navigating the process of genetic testing for hereditary cancer and has served on the advisory board for the Sarnoff Center for Jewish Genetics for the past 10 years.
