Dr. Kate Dantoft runs Kender Family Services, a private practice in Chicago’s north side. Dr. Dantoft is licensed as a clinical psychologist in the state of Illinois and works with children, adolescents, and adults. Her primary treatment modalities are individual, family, and group therapy, and she frequently incorporates art therapy when appropriate. Counseling for caregivers is also provided to those looking after children. Additionally, Dr. Dantoft uses play therapy when working with young populations. Dr. Dantoft utilizes an active, integrative, and tailored approach with humanistic and existential roots. She meets clients wherever they are at in life to make the therapy experience as effective and meaningful as possible. She often thinks outside-the-box and will use strengths and resources available to clients. Dr. Dantoft specializes in providing trauma therapy. She has worked with those who have suffered sexual, physical, and emotional abuse; endured torture; experienced community violence; and been diagnosed with chronic or terminal illnesses. Dr. Dantoft also has experience working with families with members in the armed and emergency forces. In addition to providing therapy services, Dr. Dantoft is an adjunct faculty member at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and teaches in the Clinical Psy.D. program.
