Dodson-Gordon, Sherry, DDS

My family no longer lives in the state but she was our dentist for several years when we lived in Richmond. After reading the other review, I felt it necessary to comment on her behalf. One persons experience is not reflective of everyone and when these things are written, only one side of the story is told. She was great with my kids and made sure we understood what she was doing at all times. If there was a problem, it was explained to us in detail and it was handled properly. If we needed a referral to a specialist, we got one. She did many fillings, crowns and check-ups over the eight years she was our dentist. Since moving, I've been asked by my current dentist who did the majority of my dental work because it's really done well. We had nothing but a great experience with her and if we moved back tomorrow, she would be our dentist again. My kids still talk about her and how much fun it was to see her every six months. Her staff was always friendly and I can't think of one time when I felt lied to in the 8 years she was our dentist nor can I think of one problem we've had with the work she did.

I went to Sherry Dodson-Gordon for 10 years and was extremely shocked to discover that my mouth was not in near the condition she led me to believe it was when I switched dentists. She continually told myself and my spouse that our mouths looked fine (in her high-pitched baby talk), and upon switching dentists we both had to have full scalings and are now going every 3 months to treat periodontal disease. She never led either of us to believe that we were doing anything wrong, and she apparently thought that her job was to make us feel good rather than to be honest and tell us what we needed to be doing more of. I think she is useless as anything other than a cosmetic dentist. She was always encouraging us to do various "cosmetic" procedures rather than doing her job and taking care of what we already have going on. USELESS!!!!!
