I rarely write reviews on anything, but this motel deserves my accolades. Mr. Patel (I believe he is the owner/manager) was gracious, helpful, and the place was clean and everything in the room even worked. How rare is that!
He gave me one of the rooms in the back of the motel (#121, I think, several steps down to the back level) and all of the rooms in that area are shielded from any road noise on Route 10, and look out onto an almost manicured lawn and treed area that shows lots of effort. A very quiet place to bring take-out, after a tough day, and drink the sun down with a decent bottle of wine.
My schedule takes me to the area twice or more a month, and I intend to stay there again.
The rates are well below the average for the area (I can’t believe Hamden-Cheshire motels have the nerve to charge the outrageous prices they do). I went through Priceline; I'm sure the very reasonable rates will impress you.
The neighborhood is safe, and when you get off the main drag, mostly residential. Finding an affordable motel in other than a war zone, as I'm sure most of you know, is tough.
I had a new microwave, fridge-freezer, flat screen TV and perfectly serviceable WI FI service.
There are decent restaurants in the area (some fairly ritzy) and watering holes if that's what floats your boat. Especially nice is Aunt Chiladas restaurant-bar at the Sleeping Giant Golf Course a few miles south of the motel. A decent golf course too. There is also a driving range there.
There are many activities close by. New Haven and its eclectic array of Restaurants, and Yale University, are 20 minutes down the road, including Yale's Peabody Museum, one of the oldest and very best. There are parks nearby (Brooksvale for one) so the kids can be entertained.
I really don't have any gripes about my stay there. The King sized bed (I was staying there alone) was comfortable and the size of a tennis court. (Well, maybe not that big).
Mr. Patel and his staff is putting great effort into the place (clean, neat and comfortable) and it really shows.

Stayed two nights while moving. Was just one night but it was so nice stayed a second so we did not have to do a late six hour drive.
