Ultrasound
An ultrasound is a medical imaging technique that uses a transducer or probe, to generate sound waves and computer technology to produce pictures of the body's internal organs. Unlike other imaging techniques, an ultrasound creates “movies” that capture the movement of organs including heartbeats, contractions of bowel loops, and flow of blood vessels. An ultrasound is a safe and painless study where a small transducer gently follows a clear gel that is placed directly on the skin. The soundwaves admitted from the transducer pass through the gel, reflect off of the body, then are received by a computed to create an image. An ultrasound can evaluate different soft tissue structures in the body including the thyroid gland, breasts, abdomen, and pelvic organs.
MRI
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a medical technique that uses magnetic fields and radio waves to generate detailed images of the body. MRIs are a non-invasive option to help your doctor gain insight into your health. Healthcare professionals use an MRI to diagnose a variety of conditions that affect the body, including the brain, spinal cord, muscles, and ligaments. Because an MRI does not use radiation, it provides an ideal option for routine monitoring of conditions throughout the different stages of life including pregnancy.

A PET/CT (Positron emission tomography) is a non-invasive, nuclear medicine study that uses small amounts of radioactive materials called radiotracers to provide insights into the function of an organ or tissue. With many disease processes beginning with minor functional changes, a PET/CT is uniquely important because it can identify and monitor medical conditions in very early stages. Typically, a doctor will recommend a PET/CT if he or she believes a particular condition is affecting the organs' function or to evaluate the effectiveness of a treatment plan.
Mammography
Conventional digital mammography (2D mammography) is a traditional breast imaging scan that performs a series of X-rays to develop comprehensive images of the breast from two views (top and side). 2D mammograms are utilized to monitor your overall breast health. The goal of 2D mammograms is to be able to detect abnormal tissue growth in breasts before it evolves into late stage cancer. Breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women across the country each year. The importance of 2D mammograms in the form of annual screenings is extremely important so breast cancer can be treated at earlier stages rather than late stages.
Computed Tomography
Computed tomography (CT) scans are a medical technique that uses multiple X-rays alongside computers to create cross-sectional images. The term “slice” refers to each image. Our imaging experts merge each slice using advanced software to create detailed, multi-level views of the sections in your body. CTs provide doctors with detailed information to guide treatment and monitor various conditions affecting the hard tissues of the body.
