General Info: THE LAURELS OF CHARLOTTESVILLE The Laurels of Charlottesville is conveniently located just off U.S. Route 29 North near Fashion Square Mall and across from the Charlottesville Senior Center. Our 120-bed facility offers short-term rehab and long-term care as well as transitional services. Our skilled nursing and rehab professionals are known for being not only the most experienced in the area, but also the most caring. As the premiere short-term rehab facility in our region, we create individualized therapy plans to quickly return our rehab guests home so they can safely resume normal, active lives. We also offer compassionate respite and hospice care.

General Practitioners

Primary Care
Yes! We believe it is every Guest’s right to choose their Attending Physician. The physicians that see our Guests must complete the Facility’s credentialing process which includes having a current license to practice medicine in the State where the Facility is located.
Family Practice
Dr. Chesler is affiliated with Charlottesville Family Medicine. He sees numerous guests at The Laurels, due to his affiliation with the orthopedic surgeons at The Martha Jefferson Hospital and the huge amount of orthopedic rehabilitation done by our staff for guests following a joint replacement surgery.
Emergency Care
Dr. von Elten received his Medical Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and completed his Family Practice Residency at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. He has been practicing as a Family Physician in Urgent Care and is the Medical Director for Addiction Allies. He is also Adjunct Faculty at Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is board certified in Family Practice. In his spare time, Dr. von Elten enjoys fishing, playing the guitar, and writing children’s literature.
Immunizations
Per CMS, indoor visitation is currently allowed for all residents, and vaccination status does not affect the ability to visit. However, visitors are still required to follow facility policies, wear appropriate PPE, and observe physical distancing during their visit.

Multiple Sclerosis

Radiology
Medicare Part B is the "supplemental medical insurance" portion of Medicare. Part B covers physician services, outpatient radiology and laboratory services, therapy, medically necessary ambulance transport, certain supplies and equipment, and a few other services not covered by Part A. Part B does not cover most outpatient medications. Part B is a voluntary program that requires eligible individuals to enroll and pay a monthly premium. Most people with Part A choose to enroll in Part B as Part A and Part B are designed to provide a comprehensive health plan when used together.

The Laurels of Charlottesville employs a team of highly qualified medical professionals, including a Medical Director, Registered Nurses, Restorative Care Nurses, a Wound Care Nurse, state tested Certified Nursing Assistants, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and a Speech Therapist. Our on-site Rehab, Dietary, Social Work, and Activities departments provide personalized and compassionate care to each guest. From the moment you walk through the front doors, the warmth and caring of the staff will begin to gain your trust and confidence, as they strive to exceed your expectations.
